Accused held from Ambala City in connection with the killing of a 32-year-old man following an alleged old enmity

The Crime Branch-1 team of Yamunanagar police has arrested a man from Ambala City in connection with the alleged killing of a 32-year-old man following an old enmity, police said. The arrest was made under the directions of Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal, who has instructed district police teams to take strict action against crime and criminals.
According to the police spokesperson, the accused has been identified as Vishwajeet, son of Tara Chand, a resident of Dukheri. He was arrested from Ambala City by a team of Crime Branch-1 during the investigation into the case.
Police said the accused was subsequently produced before a court and taken on remand for further investigation. The investigating team is questioning him to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault and to determine the role of other persons, if any, in the incident.
Crime Branch-1 in-charge Raj Kumar said the arrest was carried out by a team comprising Sub-Inspector Jasbir Singh and police personnel Ashok, Deepak and Sushil. Acting on information developed during the investigation, the team traced the accused to Ambala City and apprehended him.
The case relates to the death of 32-year-old Naveen, a resident of Urjani, who was allegedly attacked and beaten to death in a field in the Nahar Pur-Taharpur area following an old dispute, police said.
According to the police account, the incident took place on June 5. Naveen was allegedly assaulted in connection with a longstanding enmity, and he later died from the injuries sustained in the attack. The matter was subsequently taken up for investigation by the police.
The arrest of Vishwajeet is being treated as an important development in the investigation. Police are examining the circumstances that led to the alleged assault and are collecting information to establish the sequence of events before, during and after the incident.
Investigators are also looking into the alleged old enmity mentioned in the case and are seeking to determine the circumstances in which the dispute escalated into violence. Further questioning of the arrested accused is expected to help police establish additional details relevant to the case.
The police spokesperson said the district police are working under the directions of SP Kamaldeep Goyal to tighten the enforcement mechanism against criminal activities. The arrest in the present case followed efforts by the Crime Branch-1 team to locate the accused outside the immediate area of the incident. Police traced Vishwajeet to Ambala City and arrested him there.
The investigating team is expected to examine the accused’s version alongside other evidence collected in the case. Police will also verify information relating to the alleged dispute and the events surrounding Naveen’s death.
As the matter is under investigation, the allegations against the arrested man have not been established by a court. His exact role in the alleged killing will be determined through the ongoing investigation and subsequent judicial proceedings.
Police officials said the investigation would continue to establish all relevant facts. If evidence indicates the involvement of additional persons, appropriate legal action will be taken against them in accordance with the law.
The case also highlights the role of Crime Branch-1 in pursuing suspects who may have moved away from the area where an alleged offence occurred. In this instance, the police team travelled to Ambala City after developing information about the accused’s whereabouts and successfully apprehended him.
Crime Branch-1 in-charge Raj Kumar said the investigation was continuing and that the team was examining all relevant aspects of the case. The focus remains on establishing the complete circumstances of the alleged attack and determining whether anyone else was involved.
Police have maintained that strict action will continue against persons involved in serious criminal offences. Under the direction of the district police leadership, investigation teams have been instructed to pursue accused persons and bring cases to their logical conclusion on the basis of evidence.
The arrest of Vishwajeet marks the latest development in the investigation into the death of Naveen. The police will now use the remand period to question the accused and gather further information required to establish the alleged sequence of events.
