The Anti-Vehicle Theft Cell of the Yamunanagar Police has arrested an alleged motorcycle thief and recovered two stolen motorcycles from his possession, police said. The action was carried out under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal as part of the district police’s ongoing drive against vehicle theft.
The accused was produced before the court following his arrest and was subsequently sent to judicial custody. Police said further investigation is underway to establish whether the accused was involved in other vehicle theft cases in the district.
According to the police spokesperson, the Anti-Vehicle Theft Cell received confidential information that a young man carrying a stolen motorcycle would travel from Kalanour towards Uttar Pradesh. Acting on the information, the police team established a checkpoint at a strategic location and began checking vehicles passing through the area.
The special team was constituted under the leadership of Head Constables Harbilas, Hardeep Singh, Sumit, Yogesh and Naresh. The team reached the suspected route and began intensive checking of vehicles in an effort to identify the person mentioned in the information.
After some time, police personnel noticed a young man approaching on a motorcycle. The team stopped him and conducted a preliminary verification of the motorcycle and its documents. According to police, the documents appeared suspicious, prompting the officers to question the rider in greater detail.
During interrogation, police allegedly established that the motorcycle was stolen. The accused reportedly disclosed that he had stolen the motorcycle on September 1 from near Yamunanagar Bus Stand.
Police identified the accused as Rajeev Kumar Sahni, son of Vijay Kumar Sahni, a resident of Shambhu Colony. Investigators then questioned him further regarding his involvement in other vehicle theft incidents.
According to the Anti-Vehicle Theft Cell, the subsequent questioning led to the recovery of another motorcycle allegedly stolen by the accused. Police said the second motorcycle had been stolen on August 22 from Shambhu Colony.
The recovery of two motorcycles is being viewed by the police as an important development in their investigation into vehicle theft incidents in the district. Officers are now examining the circumstances of both thefts and checking whether the accused has links to other similar cases.

After completing the necessary proceedings, police produced Rajeev Kumar Sahni before the court. The court sent him to judicial custody. The investigation into the case is continuing.
