Crime Branch-I intercepts motorcycle-borne accused near Panjupur canal bridge; NDPS Act case registered

In a continuing crackdown on drug trafficking, the Crime Branch-I of Yamunanagar Police arrested a suspected drug peddler and seized 52.82 grams of heroin (smack) from his possession during a special operation.
According to police spokesperson, the action was carried out under the directions of Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal as part of the district police’s ongoing anti-narcotics drive.
Crime Branch-I In-charge Rajkumar said the team received specific intelligence that a man carrying narcotics would pass through the Panjupur Canal Bridge area on a motorcycle.
Acting on the tip-off, a police team led by Sub-Inspector Jasbir Singh, along with ASI Jagtar Singh and other personnel, set up a checkpoint and began checking vehicles.
The suspect was intercepted in the presence of a duty magistrate. During the search, police allegedly recovered 52.82 grams of heroin from his possession. The accused was identified as Munsad, a resident of Raipur.
Police registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and produced the accused before a court, which granted police remand for further interrogation.
Investigators said the accused works as a labourer in a timber market and efforts are underway to trace the source of the contraband and identify others involved in the supply chain.

The Proclaimed Offenders (PO) Staff of Yamunanagar Police has arrested a man who had been declared a proclaimed offender by a court after repeatedly failing to appear in a criminal case.
Police said the arrest was made as part of a special district-wide campaign launched under the directions of Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal to trace absconding accused and bail jumpers.
According to the police spokesperson, a special team headed by Inspector Rajpal and comprising ASI Ashwini, Head Constables Sandeep, Mahavir and Rajat, along with Woman Constable Manju, acted on confidential information and arrested Sachin Kumar, a resident of Ganganagar Colony, Jagadhri.
Police said Sachin had been evading arrest after being declared a proclaimed offender by the court for failing to appear in judicial proceedings.
He was produced before the court after his arrest and has been sent to judicial custody.
SP Kamaldeep Goyal appreciated the efforts of the police team and said the campaign against absconding offenders would continue with full intensity to strengthen law and order in the district.
