Addressing the gathering, Shyam Singh Rana described Shaheed Udham Singh as an immortal son of Mother India whose life remains a timeless symbol of courage, self-respect and resistance against injustice.

He recalled that the Jallianwala Bagh massacre of April 13, 1919, profoundly influenced the young revolutionary, who vowed to avenge the brutal killing of innocent Indians. After years of determination and patience, Udham Singh fulfilled his pledge by assassinating Michael O’Dwyer at London’s Caxton Hall on March 13, 1940. He was later executed at Pentonville Prison on July 31, 1940.

“Even while facing the gallows, he displayed extraordinary courage without fear or regret. India’s freedom stands on the sacrifices of countless revolutionaries like Shaheed Udham Singh. It is now our responsibility to build a self-reliant, prosperous and socially harmonious nation that fulfils their dreams,” the minister said.

Rana also linked nation-building with agricultural progress, stating that empowering farmers and modernising agriculture are equally important forms of national service. He urged young people to draw inspiration from Udham Singh’s life and dedicate themselves to the country’s development.

Speaking on the occasion, Kurukshetra MP Naveen Jindal paid homage to Shaheed Udham Singh and other legendary revolutionaries, including Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Sukhdev and Chandrashekhar Azad, saying India’s independence was achieved through their unmatched sacrifice.

“Such commemorative programmes help connect the younger generation with the country’s glorious history and inspire them to contribute towards building a developed India by 2047,” Jindal said.

In a major announcement, the MP said a 108-foot National Flag would be installed at Shaheed Udham Singh’s birthplace as a lasting tribute to the legendary freedom fighter.

“The Tricolour represents India’s pride, honour and heritage. Installing it at the birthplace of Shaheed Udham Singh will serve as a fitting tribute to his sacrifice and inspire generations to come,” he said.

Jindal also announced a grant of ₹21 lakh for developmental and social welfare works at the Kamboj Dharamshala.

Haryana Kamboj Mahasabha President Sumer Chand Kamboj described the occasion as historic and said Shaheed Udham Singh’s unmatched bravery continues to inspire millions of Indians.

Among those present were Yamunanagar MLA Ghanshyam Dass Arora, BJP District President Rajesh Sapra, Haryana Safai Commission Chairman Ishwar Singh Palaka, Bharatiya Kisan Sangh Organising Minister Surendra Kumar, Market Committee Chairman Rupinder Singh Malli, Municipal Committee Chairman Rajnish Mehta, BJP leader Nepal Singh Rana, Vipin Kamboj, Kamal Kamboj, Harpal Kamboj, Hemraj Kunjal, Pammi Khedki, and several other public representatives and members of the Kamboj community.
