Municipal Corporation organises ‘Waste to Wonder’ exhibition to promote recycling, waste segregation and environmental awareness among students

The Yamunanagar Municipal Corporation organised a ‘Waste to Wonder’ exhibition at Mukand Lal Public School, Model Town, to encourage environmental awareness and sustainable waste management among students. Held under the directions of Municipal Commissioner Mahabir Prasad, the programme featured creative exhibits made from discarded materials and a street play highlighting the importance of cleanliness and proper waste segregation.

Students displayed a wide range of decorative and useful items prepared from waste materials, demonstrating how discarded household items can be creatively reused instead of being thrown away. The exhibition effectively promoted the concept of the 3Rs—Reduce, Reuse and Recycle—and encouraged visitors to adopt environmentally responsible habits.

A major attraction of the event was a street play on the four-bin waste segregation system. Through the performance, students explained the importance of separating waste at its source to ensure efficient recycling, scientific disposal and better waste management.

Durgesh Kumar, IEC Expert under the Swachh Bharat Mission, said that a clean city begins with every household. He urged citizens to segregate waste into the prescribed four categories before disposal, adding that proper segregation makes the entire waste management process more effective. He also encouraged students to spread the message among their families and communities.

School Principal Monika Sharma appreciated the students for their creativity and active participation. She encouraged them to continue promoting cleanliness and environmental conservation in society and become ambassadors of sustainable living.

The exhibition concluded with a collective pledge by students and teachers to adopt eco-friendly practices and contribute towards a cleaner and greener Yamunanagar.
