Anti-Narcotics Cell cracks down on interstate drug trafficking; both accused remanded for further investigation

In a major breakthrough in its ongoing anti-drug campaign, the Yamunanagar Police has arrested two key heroin suppliers allegedly linked to an interstate narcotics network operating between Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. Both accused have been produced before a local court and remanded to police custody for further interrogation.
Police spokesperson said the arrests were made under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal as part of the district’s intensified crackdown on drug trafficking.
Anti-Narcotics Cell In-charge Anil Kumar said the first arrest is connected to a case registered on December 22, 2025, in which the police had seized 810 grams of heroin (smack) from Rajnish, a resident of Anand Vihar, Faridpur in Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh.
During interrogation, Rajnish allegedly disclosed that he had procured the heroin from Rishabh, a resident of Faridpur in Bareilly. Acting on the information, the Anti-Narcotics Cell maintained continuous surveillance and conducted multiple raids before successfully apprehending Rishabh from Faridpur.
The accused was produced before the court and taken into police remand for further questioning. Investigators are now examining the wider supply chain to identify other members of the network and determine the extent of heroin trafficking from Bareilly into Yamunanagar and neighbouring districts.
In another significant development, police arrested Gayur, a resident of Sahaspur Jat in Uttar Pradesh, who is alleged to be another major supplier of heroin.
According to police, the case dates back to July 14, 2026, when the Anti-Narcotics Cell arrested Islam and Riyasat, residents of Rehmian Colony, Chhachhrauli, near the Kalanor border. During that operation, police recovered 40 grams of heroin from their possession.
During interrogation, both accused allegedly revealed that they had sourced the contraband from Gayur. Based on the disclosures, the police launched a targeted operation and succeeded in arresting him. He has also been produced before the court and remanded to police custody for detailed interrogation.
Police officials said investigators are working to uncover the complete interstate drug supply network, identify additional suppliers and receivers, and trace the movement of narcotics into Haryana.
SP Kamaldeep Goyal has directed all anti-narcotics units to continue aggressive action against drug traffickers as part of the district’s ongoing campaign to eliminate the drug menace. Police said strict legal action will be taken against everyone found involved in the illegal narcotics trade.
The investigation is continuing, and officials have indicated that further arrests cannot be ruled out as more leads emerge during the custodial interrogation of the accused.
