Mayor Suman Bahmani, former MLA Balwant Singh and Ward Councillor Reena Rastogi jointly laid the foundation stone of the proposed building, formally initiating the construction work by performing the traditional ceremony and breaking a coconut.
The proposed dharamshala is expected to provide residents of Bhatli with a dedicated and better-equipped venue for organising social, religious and family functions. The project is being taken up in response to the need for improved community infrastructure in the village and is part of the Municipal Corporation’s efforts to extend development facilities to both urban and rural areas.

She added that the state government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, was according priority to public welfare works. Alongside strengthening essential civic amenities in areas under the Municipal Corporation, efforts were also being made to undertake projects connected with community development.
The Mayor said the Corporation was committed to ensuring that the benefits of development reached people in villages as well as in the city. She indicated that community infrastructure projects were an important part of this approach, as they address local requirements and improve the availability of shared public facilities.
