Visitors entering Yamunanagar will soon be welcomed by beautified city gateways, as the Municipal Corporation has unveiled an ambitious plan to transform the city’s major entry points with landscaped gardens, decorative lighting and enhanced civic aesthetics.
The proposal, approved during a recent General House meeting, aims to give Yamunanagar a distinctive urban identity while improving its visual appeal. A special committee has also been constituted by Municipal Commissioner Mahabir Prasad to oversee the planning and execution of the project.
The committee, comprising the Executive Engineer, Assistant Engineers and elected councillors, will conduct spot inspections of all major entry points falling within the Municipal Corporation limits. Based on feasibility assessments, suitable locations will be selected for comprehensive beautification.
Mayor Suman Bahmani reviews the beautification plan.
Mayor Suman Bahmani said the city’s entry corridors are its first impression and play a vital role in shaping visitors’ perception. She said the initiative is designed to showcase Yamunanagar as a clean, green and well-planned urban centre from the moment people enter the city.
Selected locations will be developed with ornamental flowering plants, landscaped green spaces and modern decorative lighting to enhance their appearance during both daytime and nighttime. The improved illumination is also expected to strengthen public convenience and safety.
The Mayor said the Municipal Corporation’s vision extends beyond basic civic infrastructure and focuses equally on environmental sustainability and urban aesthetics. She added that beautification projects at public spaces, major intersections and other prominent locations will also be implemented in phases across the city.
Municipal Commissioner Mahabir Prasad said the committee will ensure that the selected sites are technically suitable and that the project is executed in a planned and sustainable manner.
The civic body expressed confidence that, with the support of public representatives and residents, the initiative will help establish Yamunanagar as a cleaner, greener and more attractive city.
