Yamunanagar police have arrested a man in connection with an alleged motorcycle theft and recovered the stolen vehicle, according to a statement issued by the district police. The Anti-Vehicle Theft Cell carried out the operation after receiving information that a suspect would allegedly travel towards Uttar Pradesh via the Kalanour border on a stolen motorcycle.
Police identified the arrested man as Sahil Kumar alias Nandu, son of Ramesh Kumar and a resident of Lakshmi Garden Labour Colony. He was produced before a court and sent to judicial custody. Police said further investigation into the case was underway.
Checkpoint Operation Leads to Arrest
According to the police spokesperson, the operation was conducted under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal. Anti-Vehicle Theft Cell in-charge Rajesh Kumar said the team received confidential information that a young man was likely to cross the Kalanour border towards Uttar Pradesh on a stolen motorcycle.
Following the input, a special team was formed under the leadership of Head Constable Labh Singh. The team established a checkpoint at a potential location and began checking vehicles.
After some time, a young man approached the checkpoint on a motorcycle. Police stopped him for verification and found the vehicle documents suspicious, according to the department’s account. Further questioning and checks reportedly established that the motorcycle had been stolen.
Police alleged that the suspect admitted to stealing the motorcycle from Harbanspura Colony on October 3. The vehicle was subsequently recovered, and the suspect was arrested.
Accused Sent to Judicial Custody
The police spokesperson said Sahil Kumar alias Nandu was presented before the court, which remanded him to judicial custody. Police are continuing their investigation to establish the full circumstances of the theft and determine whether further action is required.
The police statement did not provide the motorcycle’s make, registration number or a detailed account of the circumstances in which it was allegedly stolen. These details have therefore not been added to this report.
The case forms part of the district police’s stated efforts to curb vehicle theft. Checkpoints and vehicle-document verification can assist investigations when police receive specific information about a suspected stolen vehicle. However, the allegations against the arrested man remain subject to the judicial process.
Police Appeal to Vehicle Owners
The district police have urged residents to remain vigilant about vehicle security and report suspicious activity promptly. Police said their campaign against vehicle theft would continue and that action would be taken against those found involved in such offences.
Vehicle owners can reduce risk by locking their vehicles, using steering locks or other suitable anti-theft devices, parking in secure and well-lit areas, and keeping registration and ownership documents safe. If a vehicle is stolen, promptly informing the police and providing its registration details can assist the investigation.
The arrest and recovery announced by the police represent a development in this particular case. Any further findings, including whether the investigation identifies additional suspects or related offences, will depend on the evidence gathered by investigators.
