The Rotary Club Yamunanagar distributed 100 tuberculosis (TB) kits to patients at Civil Hospital, Yamunanagar, as part of its commitment to community service and public health. The initiative was intended to provide support to people undergoing TB treatment and increase awareness about the disease.
Alongside the distribution of TB kits, the club organised an eye and dental check-up camp at Rising Star Shivalik Senior Secondary School on Sasouli Road. Around 400 children underwent examinations during the camp, bringing attention to preventive healthcare and the importance of identifying eye and dental concerns at an early stage.
Yamunanagar MLA Ghanshyam Dass Arora attended the programme as the chief guest. Former Rotary District Governor and Past District Governor (PDG) Rotarian Subhash Garg was also present. The two activities were chaired by Rotarian Rajiv Mittal and Ann Preeti Mittal, whose efforts contributed to the organisation of the initiatives. The club expressed its appreciation for their commitment and contribution.
Support for TB Patients and the Goal of a TB-Free India
Speaking at the programme, MLA Ghanshyam Dass Arora said that achieving the goal of a TB-free India required not only government action but also active participation by social organisations and citizens. He appreciated the Rotary Club Yamunanagar for distributing kits to TB patients, describing such initiatives as valuable support for people receiving treatment.
He said community-level efforts could help increase awareness about health-related issues and encourage people to contribute to collective welfare. The distribution of 100 kits was intended to provide practical assistance to patients during their treatment journey. The club’s initiative also sought to encourage a more informed and supportive approach towards people affected by tuberculosis.
TB is an important public-health concern, and awareness, timely medical care and continued support can help patients navigate treatment. Community organisations can contribute by connecting local service efforts with patient needs and encouraging people to seek appropriate medical advice. The club’s activity was presented as a local effort to support patients and strengthen public awareness, alongside the wider work of healthcare services.
Rotary Emphasises Service and Community Welfare
PDG Rotarian Subhash Garg said Rotary had consistently worked towards serving humanity and supporting sections of society that need assistance. He described helping TB patients as an important social responsibility and praised club members for contributing to the project.
He said such initiatives reflected Rotary’s guiding principles of service and dedication. The participation of members and community representatives, he added, helped strengthen the spirit of collective responsibility and encouraged organisations to remain engaged with local needs.
Rotary Club Yamunanagar President Rotarian Abhishek Dutta said the club’s purpose extended beyond organising individual service activities. Its broader aim, he said, was to contribute to positive change in society. He described the distribution of 100 TB kits as a meaningful step towards that objective and said the club would continue working on projects related to health, education and social welfare.
Eye and Dental Check-ups for Around 400 Children
The health initiative also included an eye and dental check-up camp at Rising Star Shivalik Senior Secondary School on Sasouli Road. Approximately 400 children underwent examinations during the camp. The activity highlighted the importance of regular health checks for schoolchildren and attention to concerns that may affect their comfort, daily activities and learning.
By arranging examinations at the school, the club sought to encourage attention to children’s health and reinforce the value of preventive care. The camp complemented the TB-support initiative by addressing another aspect of community health. The organisers thanked the medical professionals and others who contributed to the programme.
Members Reaffirm Commitment to Service
Rotarian Sumeet Gupta, the club’s treasurer, said Rotary’s guiding motto was “Service Above Self”. He described support for people affected by TB as an example of compassion and social responsibility. He added that cooperation among different sections of society could make service projects more effective and help extend their benefits to people who need assistance.
Those present included Rotarian Aastik Saini, club secretary Rotarian Harvinder Singh, Dr Divya Mangla, Dr Charu and Dr Puneet Kalra, along with other dignitaries and members. The club thanked the guests, medical professionals and members who supported the initiatives and reiterated its commitment to community health and welfare.
