Yamunanagar Police intensify vehicle checks as 910 challans are issued in three days over number plate and HSRP violations

Yamunanagar District Police have launched a special drive against vehicles being operated without number plates or mandatory High Security Registration Plates (HSRP), with police teams carrying out checking and special naka operations across the district. According to the police, the campaign is being conducted on the directions of the Haryana Director General of Police and under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goel to strengthen traffic discipline, improve vehicle identification and support crime prevention.
Police target vehicles without number plates and HSRP
During the special checking campaign, police teams are checking vehicles at different locations and taking action against vehicles found without number plates, without HSRP or in violation of other traffic rules. The police have also been checking vehicles where drivers cover their faces and other circumstances that may hinder identification.

Three-day drive results in 910 challans
Police said that between September 13 and September 15, 2026, district police teams issued 369 challans specifically against vehicles without number plates or without High Security Registration Plates. During the same period, 281 vehicles were impounded. The police said their teams issued a total of 910 challans for different traffic violations over the three-day campaign.
The figures indicate that the checking drive covered a broader range of traffic violations in addition to the HSRP and number plate-related cases. Police said the action was intended not merely to collect fines but also to improve road safety, traffic compliance and law-and-order support through better vehicle identification.
Police stress importance of HSRP compliance
Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goel said a High Security Registration Plate is required for vehicles and can make identification easier. According to the police, proper vehicle identification can also assist investigators during crime-related inquiries. Vehicle owners whose vehicles do not yet have HSRP have been advised to complete the prescribed process and avoid driving without a valid number plate.
The police have warned that violations will be dealt with under the applicable provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act and other relevant rules. Citizens have also been asked to keep their vehicle documents and registration plates in order while following traffic regulations.
Campaign linked to road safety and crime prevention
District Police said the campaign is being conducted with a wider objective of strengthening road safety and law enforcement. Better compliance with registration and identification requirements can help traffic personnel identify vehicles during routine checks and provide police with useful information when investigating incidents.
Police appealed to motorists to follow traffic rules, carry the required documents and ensure that their vehicles display valid registration and HSRP plates. The department said negligence or violations noticed during the special campaign would be dealt with according to law.
