Safe City team spreads safety awareness as Yamunanagar Police hold student session at National Public School

Yamunanagar District Police organised a safety awareness programme for students at National Public School, Yamunanagar, as part of its ongoing efforts to educate children and young people about personal safety, cyber security, drug abuse and responsible conduct. The session was conducted by ASI Neelam of the police Safe City team under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goel.
Students briefed on good touch, bad touch and emergency help
During the programme, ASI Neelam explained child safety issues in simple and practical terms, including the difference between appropriate and inappropriate physical contact. Students were encouraged to speak without fear or hesitation if anyone behaves improperly with them and to immediately inform their parents, teachers or another trusted adult.
The students were also told that police assistance is available through emergency helpline 112 and that they should seek help promptly in any situation in which they feel unsafe or threatened.

Cyber safety and online fraud awareness
The session also addressed the growing risks associated with cybercrime. Students were advised to use social media carefully, avoid sharing personal information with unknown people and stay away from suspicious links. They were cautioned against online fraud and told to report cybercrime to the police without delay so that timely action can be taken.
The emphasis on early reporting was intended to help students understand that seeking assistance quickly can be important when an online incident occurs. The programme also reinforced the need for responsible digital behaviour among young users.
Students urged to stay away from drugs
Drug abuse was another key topic of the awareness programme. ASI Neelam explained that substance abuse can harm physical and mental well-being and can also affect a person’s future, family and wider social environment.
Students were encouraged to remain away from intoxicants and to help create awareness among friends and family members. The police stressed that young people can play an important role in building safer and healthier communities by making informed choices and speaking up about harmful behaviour.
Students interact with police officers
Students asked police officials questions on different safety-related subjects during the interaction. The questions were answered by the police team, allowing the students to seek practical guidance on personal safety, online risks and responsible conduct.
The district police said such awareness programmes will continue in educational institutions so that children and young people become more informed about safety, law and responsible behaviour. The initiative is part of the police effort to strengthen awareness and encourage timely reporting of unsafe or suspicious situations.
