Yamunanagar civic House approves 44 development proposals as officials face action over poor performance and pending civic works

The general House meeting of the Yamunanagar Municipal Corporation was held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Mayor Suman Bahmani, with councillors discussing 44 proposals related to city development, illegal colonies, pollution, traffic, sanitation, health, street lighting, property tax and ward-level infrastructure. Two additional proposals sought action-taken reports on resolutions passed in earlier House meetings.
The meeting also saw directions for departmental accountability. Councillors sought action against a Municipal Corporation junior engineer over alleged poor performance in property-ID work and other assignments. Commissioner Mahabir Prasad first suspended the concerned JE on the recommendation of the Mayor, but later heard the employee’s response and ordered a performance review before any further action.
Committee to review JE’s six-month performance
Commissioner Mahabir Prasad constituted a committee headed by Assistant Engineer Mrinal Jaiswal to examine the junior engineer’s work performance during the past six months. The committee will prepare a report, and further action will be considered if the performance is found unsatisfactory.
The House also ordered action against a junior engineer of the electricity department after a damaged power pole in Ward 3 reportedly remained unrepaired for two months. In another decision, an agency was debarred over alleged failure to maintain the required quality in development works, while two Chief Sanitation Inspectors were issued notices for not submitting an action report on dairies operating in residential areas.

Mayor seeks notices to absent senior officials
Mayor Suman Bahmani said some senior officials from other departments do not take the Municipal Corporation House meetings seriously. She directed that show-cause notices be issued to senior officers who remained absent from the meeting without adequate explanation.
Pollution, illegal colonies and electricity issues reviewed
The District Town Planner department presented details of action taken against illegal colonies and unauthorised construction. Officials from the Haryana State Pollution Control Board reported that 160 challans had been issued during the past six months for use of single-use plastic, with fines totalling Rs 2.80 lakh.
The electricity department’s SDO said illegal cable wires installed on electricity poles had been removed at 47 sites. The information was placed before the House as part of a wider review of civic infrastructure and public-safety concerns.
Police report 116 NDPS cases and 5,000 traffic challans
DSP Rajat Gulia told the House that district police had registered 116 cases under the NDPS Act so far this year and arrested 216 accused. On traffic enforcement, police reported around 5,000 challans for traffic-rule violations and 415 challans for no-parking violations.

Ward-wise development works approved
The House approved a broad set of ward-wise works. In Ward 1, streets, drains and main roads in Nalagarh and Bhole Ka Majra will be constructed or improved. Ward 3 includes widening of the road from Jagadhri Prakash Chowk to Triveni Chowk, improvement of cremation grounds and construction of bus shelters in villages.
Ward 4 includes boundary-wall, cremation-shed, water and seating facilities at the Krishna Ka Majra cremation ground. Ward 5 includes storm-water drainage near Ramlila Bhawan, road and drain work in Rajan Gali and Dhobi Mohalla. Ward 6 includes a mastik road from Matka Chowk towards the leprosy ashram, a side verge towards Jagadhri bus stand and facilities around the Ravidas temple in Durga Garden.
Ward 7 will receive beautification, lighting, plantation and cleanliness works at the five main entry points of Sector 17. Ward 8 includes tiling and drainage works from Sangam Sports to Santpura Gurdwara and new drains at several identified stretches. Ward 9 includes repairs to the Kirti Nagar community centre, a shed and hall at Laxmi Narayan Dharamshala and road and drainage works in different localities.
Ward 11 includes repair of the Indira Awas Colony community building and street and drain work in Raja Ram Colony. Ward 12 includes streets, drains and roads in Shambhu Colony, Raipur Majra and Gadhouli Majra, along with a cremation ground and community centre at Kami Majra. Ward 13 includes removal of encroachment from the pond at Mamidi village and development of a track, lighting and gym, along with a new hall and road work in Jammu Colony.
Ward 14 includes RCC drains from the Yamuna canal to Vishwakarma Chowk, drainage and road works along Saharanpur Road and removal of encroachments from municipal land. Ward 15 includes a community building on vacant municipal land in Jaswant Colony and a large-capacity storm-water line in Golden Colony to address waterlogging between OP Jindal Park and Khalsa College.
Ward 16 includes streets and storm-water lines in Laxmi Garden, Krishna Nagar and Satyam Nagar, reconstruction and levelling of roads in Raja Garden, storm-water infrastructure and reconstruction of identified roads. Ward 17 includes reconstruction of damaged lanes in the old Madhad Colony area, replacement of blocked PVC pipes with HDPE pipes and street and decorative lighting at several locations.
Ward 18 includes RCC roads and storm-water lines near Farkpur Khera temple and gurdwara and other identified stretches. Attractive entry gates will also be developed at the main entrances of villages under the ward. Ward 19 includes identification of vacant municipal land in Kheri Rangran, Peermaraja and Foosgarh, removal of encroachments, a gaushala at Kheri Rangran, a community building at Mandebri and assistance in handing over possession to eligible registry holders in Peermaraja and Foosgarh.
Additional approved works include lane construction and repairs in Jawahar Nagar, construction of four unpaved lanes in approved Sasouli Colony and a paved lane from the main road to Madan Mohan’s house in Kheri. The package of proposals covers roads, drainage, public buildings, cremation grounds, parks, lighting, entry gates and other local infrastructure needs.
Broader civic concerns remain under review
The meeting also reviewed issues relating to sanitation, health, property tax, street lights, municipal land, community facilities, storm-water management and other public services. The decisions reflect ward-specific infrastructure requirements as well as enforcement and accountability matters raised by councillors and municipal officials.
The meeting was attended by Additional Municipal Commissioner Dheeraj Kumar, Superintending Engineer Ombir Singh, Executive Officer Jarnail Singh, Executive Engineers Vikas Dhiman, Harish Kumar and Mandev Kumar, Regional Taxation Officer Ajay Walia, Jitendra Malhotra, Chief Sanitation Inspector Vinod Beniwal, Assistant Engineers Muneshwar Bhardwaj, Mrinal Jaiswal, Surender Dahiya, Rajesh Sharma and other officials.
