Street vendors return to Jagadhri Road despite relocation as civic team shifts them back to Manohar Vending Zone

Several street vendors who had been allotted booths in the Manohar Vending Zone after being moved from Jagadhri Road were found operating again along the non-vending stretch, prompting the Yamunanagar Municipal Corporation to launch a fresh enforcement drive on Monday.
Vendors shifted from Gaba Hospital to Jagadhri bus stand
Acting on the directions of Municipal Commissioner Mahabir Prasad, a team led by Chief Sanitary Inspector Amit Kamboj visited several points between Gaba Hospital and Jagadhri bus stand and shifted fruit, vegetable, fast-food and kadhi-chawal carts back to the Manohar Vending Zone. Officials also explained the relocation requirement to the vendors and warned that repeat violations would lead to seizure of the carts and action under the rules.

125 vendors were allotted booths after a draw
According to CSI Amit Kamboj, the decision to make Jagadhri Road a non-vending zone was taken in a meeting of the vending committee chaired by Commissioner Mahabir Prasad. The civic body subsequently prepared a list of 125 vendors selling vegetables, fruits and fast food between Kanhaiya Sahib Chowk and Jagadhri bus stand.
On September 1, booths in the Manohar Vending Zone were allotted to these vendors through a draw conducted under the supervision of Additional Municipal Commissioner Dheeraj Kumar, after which their carts were shifted to the designated vending area.
Enforcement team formed after vendors returned
Municipal officials said some vendors returned to different points on Jagadhri Road a few days after the relocation. Following the report, a team comprising Chief Sanitary Inspector Amit Kamboj, Sanitary Inspectors Pradeep Dahiya, Sushil Sharma and Pankaj, along with Home Guard personnel, was deployed for enforcement.
The team cleared the identified roadside vending points and directed the operators to remain within the designated vending zone. The civic body maintained that the relocation is intended to keep the Jagadhri Road corridor free from roadside vending while providing registered vendors with an alternative vending space.
Warning issued against repeat violations
CSI Amit Kamboj said any vendor found putting up a cart again on the route would face seizure of the vending cart and action as per applicable rules. The municipal team has asked vendors to use the booths allotted to them in the Manohar Vending Zone rather than return to the road.
