Police conduct child safety awareness session at Harnol school with lessons on good touch, bad touch and emergency helpline 112

Under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goel, teams of Yamunanagar district police are visiting educational institutions to provide students with important information related to personal safety, emergency response and awareness. As part of the campaign, ASI Neelam of the police Safe City team visited Government Middle School, Harnol, and interacted with students on good touch and bad touch, self-defence and emergency assistance through helpline 112.
The awareness programme focused on helping children understand that their safety is a priority and that they should speak up whenever they feel uncomfortable or threatened. Students were encouraged to remain alert, avoid unsafe situations and seek help from trusted adults rather than keeping incidents of inappropriate behaviour to themselves.
Students Educated About Good Touch and Bad Touch
ASI Neelam explained the concept of good touch and bad touch in simple language so that students could understand the importance of personal boundaries and safety. She told the children that they should be aware of their private body parts and understand that no person has the right to touch them in a way that makes them feel uncomfortable, frightened or unsafe.
The students were advised not to remain silent if someone attempts inappropriate physical contact or behaves in a manner that causes discomfort. They were encouraged to immediately tell their parents, teachers or another trusted adult about any such incident.
Children Advised to Stay Alert and Seek Help
The police also cautioned students against being influenced or lured by strangers. They were told not to panic in a difficult situation and instead seek assistance from people they trust. The message was aimed at helping children develop the confidence to report problems at an early stage and understand that asking for help is an important part of staying safe.
Students were also informed about emergency police assistance through the 112 helpline. ASI Neelam explained that the number can be contacted when immediate police assistance is required. The children were advised to use the emergency service responsibly and only in genuine emergency situations.
Cyber Safety and Awareness Also Discussed
The police team further discussed basic cyber safety and the need to remain cautious while dealing with unknown people and suspicious activity. Students were encouraged to share any concern with their parents or teachers instead of trying to handle potentially unsafe situations on their own.
Police officials said that providing safety information to children from an early age can help them develop awareness and confidence to respond appropriately to uncomfortable or dangerous situations. Regular interaction between police teams and educational institutions can strengthen communication between students, teachers, parents and law-enforcement agencies.
Teachers Appreciate Police Awareness Initiative
Teachers at Government Middle School, Harnol, appreciated the information shared by the police team. Students participated enthusiastically and raised questions about situations they may encounter in everyday life.

The police said the awareness campaign will continue across educational institutions in the district. By teaching children how to recognise uncomfortable situations, communicate with trusted adults and seek timely assistance, the police aim to strengthen their ability to protect themselves and respond confidently when faced with a potential risk.
