Police intercept motorcycle-borne suspects with heroin near Kalanour route, while another operation leads to seizure of 334 grams of opium and arrest of alleged supplier

The Yamunanagar Police’s Anti-Narcotics Cell has arrested four persons in two separate anti-drug operations, recovering 40 grams of heroin (smack) and 334 grams of opium. The accused have been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and police have obtained their remand to investigate the supply network. Anti-Narcotics Cell In-charge Anil Kumar said the first operation was carried out following specific intelligence that two men would enter Yamunanagar district from Uttar Pradesh through the Kalanour route carrying narcotic substances on a motorcycle. Acting on the information, a police team led by Sub-Inspector Ashish, along with ASI Rajendra Kumar and other officials, established a checkpoint and began checking vehicles. A motorcycle matching the description was intercepted, and the occupants were searched in the presence of a Duty Magistrate, as required under law. Police said 20 grams of heroin was recovered from each of the two suspects, taking the total seizure to 40 grams. The accused were identified as Riyasat, son of Furkan, and Islam, son of Ayub, both residents of Rahmiya Colony, Chhachhrauli.Investigators alleged that the narcotics were being transported on Islam’s motorcycle for distribution in the district. Both accused were produced before a court, which granted police remand for further interrogation. Officials said the investigation is expected to focus on identifying the source of the heroin and tracing other individuals linked to the distribution chain.In a separate operation, another Anti-Narcotics Cell team led by ASI Amit Kumar, along with Karmveer, Kuldeep and Lalit, arrested Ram Lal, a resident of Nagla Rajputan village in Ambala district, with 334 grams of opium near the Khudewala-Musimbal Road. During preliminary questioning, Ram Lal allegedly disclosed that he had procured the contraband from Shubham, a resident of Bhabholi village. Acting swiftly on the lead, the police apprehended Shubham in a follow-up operation. Both accused have been booked under the NDPS Act and will be produced before the court for police remand. Officials said further interrogation is expected to help uncover the procurement route and identify others involved in the alleged narcotics network. Police said sustained operations against drug trafficking will continue as part of the district’s ongoing campaign to dismantle organised narcotics supply chains.
