Yamunanagar police arrest two accused in separate jewellery fraud and vehicle battery theft cases.
Anti-Burglary and Anti-Narcotic team recovers gold and silver jewellery from one accused, while another faces 15 earlier theft cases

Yamunanagar police have arrested two accused in separate cases involving alleged jewellery fraud and vehicle battery theft, with the Anti-Burglary Staff-cum-Anti-Narcotic-2 team recovering gold and silver ornaments from one suspect and uncovering three additional theft incidents allegedly linked to another.
A police spokesperson said Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal has issued strict directions to district police personnel to take effective action against crime and criminals. Acting on these directions, the specialised police team carried out separate operations and arrested the accused.
The arrests were made under the supervision of team in-charge Raman Chandel. In the first case, police arrested Mohan, son of Kanha Ram, a resident of Sarajna village in Rajasthan’s Ajmer district. Police said Mohan had been residing recently in Sector 17 of the HUDA area near Anaj Mandi, Jagadhri.
According to police, the accused was allegedly in possession of jewellery that had been obtained by another accused after allegedly misleading two women and taking their ornaments. During the operation, police recovered two pairs of gold earrings, one gold ring and one silver ring from Mohan.
Police said the investigation began with the arrest of another accused, Birju, two days earlier. During questioning, Birju allegedly disclosed that he had approached two women near the railway station and Meena Bazaar and allegedly tricked them into handing over their jewellery.
The police investigation subsequently indicated that the jewellery was allegedly in the possession of Mohan. Acting on the information, the team traced and arrested him and recovered the ornaments.
After his arrest, Mohan was produced before a court and taken on police remand for further investigation. Police are examining the circumstances surrounding the alleged fraud and are also investigating the possible involvement of other persons in the case.
The recovery of the jewellery is expected to assist investigators in establishing the sequence of events and determining how the ornaments allegedly changed hands after the women were targeted. Police said further investigation is underway.
In a separate operation, the Anti-Burglary Staff-cum-Anti-Narcotic-2 team arrested another accused, identified as Akram, son of Momin, a resident of Lapra. Police said Akram has a significant criminal record, with 15 previous theft cases registered against him. These cases are currently pending before the courts.
According to the police, questioning following Akram’s arrest led to the disclosure of three additional theft incidents. Investigators said the accused allegedly worked with associates to steal batteries from parked vehicles.
The police team is now investigating the three theft cases disclosed during questioning and is also examining the role of other persons who may have been involved with Akram. The accused was produced before a court and taken on police remand for further investigation.
The two arrests form part of the district police’s ongoing efforts to identify repeat offenders and investigate property-related crimes. Police said specialised teams are being deployed to act on information and pursue suspects involved in theft, fraud and other offences.
The jewellery case highlights the investigation of offences in which victims are allegedly deceived before their valuables are taken. Police recovered the ornaments from the second accused after information provided during the investigation following Birju’s arrest.
The battery theft case, meanwhile, involves an accused whom police describe as a repeat offender. With 15 previous theft cases already registered against Akram, investigators are now examining whether his alleged involvement in the three newly disclosed incidents can be established through evidence collected during the investigation.
Police remand in both cases is intended to help investigators verify the information provided by the accused, establish the circumstances of the alleged offences and identify any additional persons or property connected with the cases.
The police spokesperson reiterated that district police have been directed to take strict action against criminals and strengthen efforts to prevent property-related offences. Specialised teams are continuing investigations based on available information and evidence.
In both cases, police have presented the accused before the court and obtained remand for further investigation. The allegations against the accused remain subject to the ongoing legal process and judicial determination.
The latest arrests also underline the role of specialised police units in investigating cases involving repeat offenders and property crimes. Recovery of suspected stolen or fraudulently obtained property and disclosure of additional cases can provide investigators with important leads for establishing the broader circumstances of such offences.
Officials said investigations into both cases are continuing. Police are examining the recovered jewellery, the alleged incidents involving the two women, the three battery theft cases and the possible involvement of other suspects.
