Two-day cultural event organised with support from Kurukshetra University’s Youth and Cultural Affairs Department to showcase students’ creative and artistic abilities

Maharaja Agrasen College, Jagadhri, witnessed an energetic start to its two-day Talent Show organised with the support of the Youth and Cultural Affairs Department of Kurukshetra University (KUK). The event has been organised with the objective of providing students with a platform to showcase their talent while encouraging creativity, confidence and participation in cultural and intellectual activities.
The first day of the Talent Show saw enthusiastic participation by students in a range of competitions, including declamation and speech, poetry recitation, quiz and painting. The activities provided students from different academic streams with an opportunity to demonstrate their communication skills, knowledge, imagination and artistic abilities before an audience.
The declamation and speech competition and poetry recitation were organised in the college conference hall. Students presented their views on different subjects with confidence and clarity and received appreciation from the audience for their presentation skills. Their participation reflected the importance of such platforms in encouraging students to express their thoughts and ideas effectively.
The quiz competition provided another opportunity for students to demonstrate their general knowledge, awareness and intellectual abilities. Participants responded to questions with enthusiasm and displayed considerable confidence while competing with their peers.
The painting competition, organised in the Commercial Arts Department, emerged as one of the major attractions of the first day. Students used colours and creative concepts to express their imagination within the stipulated time. The competition provided an opportunity for participants to showcase their artistic talent while translating their ideas into visual compositions.
Addressing the students, college principal Dr Karuna said events of this nature play an important role in developing confidence, creativity and overall personality among students. She congratulated all participants and encouraged them to continue taking part in academic, cultural and extracurricular activities.
Dr Karuna said educational institutions should provide students with opportunities beyond the conventional classroom environment because such activities enable them to discover their abilities and develop skills that are useful in both academic and professional life. She wished all participants success and encouraged them to participate actively in similar programmes in the future.
The successful organisation of the Talent Show was supported by the college’s Cultural Committee. Dr Veera Rani, convener of the committee, and Professor Seema Jain, co-convener, played a significant role in organising the event. Other members of the Cultural Committee, including Professor Sapna Kamboj, Heena Dhiman, Manju and Abhishek, along with other members of the college staff, also contributed to the smooth conduct of the programme.
The competitions held on the first day were judged by Dr ML Singla, Professor Poonam Garg and Dr VS Dhillon. The judges evaluated the performances and creative work of the participants and announced the results based on their assessment of the students’ talent and overall presentation.
In the painting competition, Aniket of BA second year secured the first position, while Suhani Devi of BA first year stood second. Seerat Kaur of BCom second year secured the third position.
The quiz competition saw the team of Gurjeet and Suraj from BCA third year secure the first position. Preet Kaur of BCA third year and Lipika of BCA second year jointly secured the second position. Meenakshi of BCA second year and Paras of BCA third year secured the third position.
In the speech competition, Renu of BCom third year secured the first position. Preet Kaur of BCA third year stood second, while Naina of BCA first year and Anika of BA second year jointly secured the third position.
The poetry recitation competition was won by Preeti of BA third year. Neha of BA second year secured the second position, while Preet Kaur of BCA third year and Shifa of BBA third year jointly secured the third position.
The results reflected the diverse range of talent present among students across different departments and academic programmes. The organisers said the objective of the event was not merely to determine winners but also to provide students with an opportunity to perform, compete and learn in a positive environment.

The second day is expected to feature additional competitions and cultural activities, bringing the Talent Show to a formal conclusion. The college said students are expected to participate with the same enthusiasm and competitive spirit during the concluding programme.
