Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls to follow revised schedule; final voter list to be published on November 6

District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner Preeti said the Election Commission of India has issued a revised schedule for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Haryana, with July 1, 2026 being treated as the qualifying date. The revised schedule provides eligible citizens additional time to verify their details in the electoral rolls and submit claims and objections wherever necessary.
According to the Deputy Commissioner, the Election Commission has revised the timeline for different stages of the SIR process to facilitate wider public participation and ensure that eligible citizens get adequate opportunity to check their names and particulars in the electoral rolls.
The most significant change concerns the period for filing claims and objections. DC Preeti said that the deadline, which was earlier scheduled to end on August 30, 2026, has now been extended to September 30, 2026. During this extended period, eligible citizens will be able to seek inclusion of their names in the electoral roll and submit claims or objections relating to entries in the voter list.
She urged all eligible citizens in the district to make use of the additional time provided by the Election Commission and carefully check their names and other relevant details in the electoral rolls. Citizens who find any discrepancy or believe that their name has not been included despite being eligible should take the necessary steps within the prescribed period.
The extension is particularly important for citizens who may not have been able to complete the verification process or submit their claims and objections within the earlier deadline. The revised schedule gives them additional time to participate in the electoral roll revision exercise.
The Deputy Commissioner said that an accurate and updated electoral roll is essential for ensuring that every eligible citizen is able to exercise the right to vote. She therefore appealed to eligible residents to treat the revision process seriously and verify their electoral details rather than waiting until the final publication of the voter list.
Under the revised schedule, the notice stage and disposal of claims and objections will continue until October 28, 2026. Following completion of this process, the final electoral roll will be published on November 6, 2026.
DC Preeti said the revised schedule issued by the Election Commission should be followed strictly by all concerned officials. She directed the officials associated with the electoral roll revision process to ensure that each stage is completed within the prescribed timeframe.
She also stressed the importance of ensuring that citizens receive appropriate information and assistance during the revision process. Officials have been asked to facilitate the process so that eligible residents can raise their claims and objections within the revised deadline.

Such revision helps ensure that eligible voters are appropriately included and that electoral records remain accurate. The administration will continue to coordinate with the officials responsible for the SIR process so that the revised schedule is implemented effectively. DC Preeti instructed the concerned officers to ensure that the process remains time-bound and that the Election Commission’s directions are followed in letter and spirit.
She reiterated that citizens’ participation is crucial to maintaining a reliable electoral roll. An accurate voter list strengthens the electoral process by ensuring that eligible citizens are able to participate in elections without unnecessary difficulty.
The Deputy Commissioner also emphasised that citizens should carefully review the electoral roll rather than assuming that their details are automatically correct. Any omission, error or objection should be brought before the competent electoral authorities within the prescribed timeframe.
With the claims and objections deadline now extended by one month, eligible citizens have additional time to complete the necessary exercise. The administration has encouraged residents to use this opportunity and ensure that their electoral information is correctly reflected in the voter list.
The revised schedule provides a clear timeline for the remaining stages of the SIR exercise. The claims and objections period will remain open until September 30, followed by the notice and disposal process up to October 28. The final electoral roll is scheduled to be published on November 6.
