A grand and devotional Shobha Yatra of Shri Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple will be taken out in Dehradun on August 26, with thousands of devotees and representatives of various social and religious organisations expected to participate in the major spiritual gathering.
Tarsem Mehta, in-charge of Tapkeshwar Mahadev Sewa Dal, Yamunanagar, said the grand religious procession is being organised by Shri Tapkeshwar Mahadev Sewa Dal under the spiritual guidance of Digambar Shri Bharat Giri Ji Maharaj.
According to Mehta, the Shobha Yatra will begin at 8:30 am from Shri Shivaji Dharamshala at Saharanpur Chowk in Dehradun. The religious procession will cover a distance of approximately 13 kilometres before reaching Shri Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple, where the main religious programmes will be held.
The grand procession will pass through several important areas of the city, including Jhanda Bazaar, Ramlila Bazaar, Peepal Mandi, Dhamawala Bazaar, Shri Jadgam Shivala Temple, Paltan Bazaar, Clock Tower, Chakrata Road, Bindalpur Bridge, Cantonment Board Office, Dokra Bazaar and Garhi Cantt, before concluding at Shri Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple.
The event is expected to witness the participation of thousands of devotees, religious leaders and representatives of various social and religious organisations. Devotees from different areas are expected to join the Shobha Yatra along its route and participate in the religious celebrations.
Tarsem Mehta said the Shobha Yatra is being organised as a major expression of faith and devotion towards Lord Shiva. He said elaborate preparations are being made to ensure the smooth conduct of the religious procession and the associated programmes.
After completing the 13-kilometre journey, the Shobha Yatra will reach Shri Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple, where a grand Bhandara will be organised for devotees and participants.
A special Maha Aarti will be held at 8:30 pm at the temple. The religious programme is expected to provide devotees with an opportunity to participate in collective worship and other spiritual rituals.
Mehta said religious events such as Shobha Yatras bring people together and strengthen the values of faith, unity, devotion and social harmony. The participation of devotees from different regions and sections of society is expected to make the event a significant spiritual gathering.
The religious celebrations will continue beyond the August 26 procession. The Shobha Yatra concluding ceremony will be organised on August 30 at Manbhavan Palace, Guru Road, Patel Nagar, Dehradun.
The concluding programme will include the ceremonial lighting of the lamp followed by a Bhajan Sandhya. A special Aarti will be performed at 9:30 pm as part of the concluding religious Celebration.
Devotees from different states across the country are expected to participate in the concluding ceremony and associated spiritual programmes. The organisers expect a large gathering of devotees during the five-day series of religious events.
Tarsem Mehta said that a significant number of devotees from Yamunanagar will also travel to Dehradun to participate in the Shobha Yatra and other programmes. Members of religious and social organisations are also expected to join the celebrations.
He said the programme would provide an opportunity for devotees to come together in an atmosphere of collective faith and devotion. The participation of people from different states is expected to add to the spiritual significance of the occasion.

The grand Bhandara and special Maha Aarti will mark the culmination of the main day’s programme, while the concluding ceremony on August 30 will bring together devotees for an evening of Bhajans, spiritual devotion and collective worship.
The organisers expressed confidence that the series of programmes will strengthen the spirit of devotion, unity and social harmony while bringing together devotees from Yamunanagar, Dehradun and several other parts of the country.
