MY Bharat Yamunanagar will organise programmes at MLN College, Yamunanagar, and Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Yamunanagar, on August 27, 2026, to mark National Sports Day 2026. The initiative aims to promote sportsmanship, physical fitness and greater awareness about sports among young people.

MY Bharat Yamunanagar Deputy Director Mrs Omkar Swami shared details of the upcoming programmes during a press conference attended by media representatives. She said National Sports Day provides an important opportunity to encourage young people to take up sports, adopt a healthy lifestyle and explore the growing opportunities available in the sports sector.

She said the programmes will focus on connecting youth with sports and creating awareness about various opportunities available for talented athletes. Participants will be provided information about sports development programmes, talent identification, training and coaching facilities, nutritional support, sports science and the increasing role of technology in improving athletic performance.

During the programmes, discussions will also focus on initiatives such as Khelo India, which have helped create opportunities for young and talented sportspersons from villages, small towns and remote areas. According to the organisers, aspiring athletes today have access to more platforms, competitions, training opportunities and support systems than in the past.

Omkar Swami said that governments and institutions can provide sports infrastructure, facilities and opportunities, but the responsibility of delivering outstanding performances ultimately rests with the athletes themselves.

“Young people must continue to work hard, improve their performance and set ambitious goals to represent the country at national and international levels,” she said.

She emphasised that success in sports requires discipline, dedication, regular practice and continuous improvement. Young athletes should make full use of the opportunities and facilities available to them while remaining focused on their sporting goals.

The MY Bharat Deputy Director said that National Sports Day is not merely an annual celebration but also an opportunity to connect young people with the wider values associated with sports. Participation in sports helps develop discipline, self-confidence, teamwork, physical fitness and a positive approach towards life.

She added that sports can also play an important role in personality development and nation-building by encouraging young people to remain active, healthy and motivated.

MY Bharat Yamunanagar is working to encourage greater youth participation in sports activities and ensure that young people are made aware of the opportunities available for developing their sporting talent. The programmes on August 27 will seek to provide participants with useful information about pathways available for athletes at different stages of their sporting journey.

The organisers said that young people with sporting potential should actively explore opportunities related to training, coaching and competitions and take advantage of the expanding sports ecosystem.

Mrs Omkar Swami appealed to the youth of Yamunanagar to participate actively in the National Sports Day 2026 programmes on August 27 and make sports an integral part of their lives.

She said that greater participation in sports can contribute not only to improved fitness but also to the development of confidence, discipline and leadership qualities among young people.

The upcoming programmes at MLN College and Guru Nanak Khalsa College are expected to bring together students and young sports enthusiasts and encourage them to understand the importance of fitness and sports in everyday life.
