Students recognised for dedicated community service and active participation in NSS activities during 2025–26 session

Kurukshetra University has awarded NSS Merit Certificates to five students of Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Yamunanagar, in recognition of their dedicated contribution to community service and active participation as NSS volunteers during the 2025–26 academic session.
The students who received the certificates are Vanshika, Tapaswani Sharma, Sonu Kumar Singh, Vedvrat Mishra and Deepak Kumar. According to the certification issued by Kurukshetra University, the students served as NSS volunteers from 2024 to 2026 and actively participated in various social service and community-oriented activities conducted under the National Service Scheme.
The students also participated in the NSS Special Programme/Camp held from January 28 to February 3, 2026, where they contributed to activities aimed at promoting social awareness, community participation and a spirit of voluntary service.
The certificates were presented to the students by College Principal Dr Arvinder Singh Bhalla, NSS Programme Officer Dr Gyan Bhushan, along with Dr Hemant Mishra, Dr Amarjeet Singh and Dr Sahib Singh. The college officials congratulated the students for their achievement and appreciated their continued dedication to NSS activities and community service.
The recognition from Kurukshetra University was described by the college as an encouragement for students to actively participate in social and community initiatives. The NSS programme provides students with opportunities to work closely with communities and understand social issues while developing qualities such as leadership, discipline, empathy and responsibility.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal Dr Arvinder Singh Bhalla congratulated the award recipients and highlighted the importance of NSS in the overall development of students.
He said that NSS gives students an opportunity to serve society while simultaneously helping them develop a strong sense of leadership, discipline, empathy and responsibility. He noted that participation in community service enables students to understand the needs of society and encourages them to contribute positively beyond the classroom.
Dr Bhalla appreciated the students for maintaining an active association with NSS activities and said that such recognition reflects not only individual achievement but also the commitment of the institution towards encouraging socially responsible youth.
He said that voluntary service helps students develop confidence and practical experience while working with people from different sections of society. Such exposure, he added, can play an important role in preparing young people to become responsible citizens.
The college management also congratulated the students on receiving the merit certificates. Sardar Randeep Singh Johar, President of the Governing Body and Managing Committee, described the achievement as a matter of pride for the institution.
He said that recognition of students for voluntary service reflects the positive impact of NSS activities on young people. According to him, the spirit of voluntary service developed through NSS encourages students to become responsible citizens and motivates them to make meaningful contributions to the welfare of society.

The NSS Merit Certificates also highlight the importance of recognising students who devote their time and energy to social service alongside their academic pursuits. The participation of the five students over the period from 2024 to 2026 reflects their sustained involvement in the NSS programme rather than participation in a single event. Their presence at the Special Programme/Camp organised from January 28 to February 3, 2026, further contributed to their record of voluntary service.
