Political parties urged to verify claims and objections; eligible youngsters asked to register as voters through Form 6

Additional Deputy Commissioner and Electoral Registration Officer for the 09-Yamunanagar Assembly Constituency, Navin Ahuja, chaired the second weekly meeting held under the Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls-2026. The meeting focused on claims and objections received up to August 13, 2026, and the distribution of related Forms 9, 10, 11, 11A and 11B among representatives of political parties and Booth Level Agents (BLAs).

Representatives of various political parties participated in the meeting, including Aam Aadmi Party BLA Mohit Tyagi, AAP representative Ravi Gupta, Jannayak Janta Party district Mahila Morcha president Gurjit Kaur, JJP BLA Pradeep Kumar, Indian National Congress BLA Kesar Singh and Bharatiya Janata Party BLAs Krishna Singla and Sahil.

Addressing the meeting, ADC Navin Ahuja said the Election Commission of India is conducting the Special Intensive Revision-2026 with the objective of making electoral rolls error-free and ensuring that the names of all eligible citizens are included. He said the exercise is aimed at strengthening the electoral system and ensuring that every eligible citizen gets an opportunity to exercise the constitutional right to vote.

Ahuja informed the political party representatives that the draft electoral rolls had already been published on July 31, 2026, as per the directions of the Election Commission of India. The draft electoral rolls have also been made available to all political parties. For the convenience of the general public, copies of the draft rolls are available with BLOs appointed at polling stations for public inspection.

He further said that the electoral rolls are also available on the website of the Chief Electoral Officer, Haryana, at www.ceoharyana.nic.in. Any voter can also inspect the electoral rolls free of cost at the office of the Electoral Registration Officer, 09-Yamunanagar Assembly Constituency. In addition, ASDD lists have been made available for free public inspection at the ERO-09 Yamunanagar office as well as the offices of the Municipal Corporation, Yamunanagar-Jagadhri.

During the meeting, Ahuja handed over to political party representatives the lists of claims and objections received in the assembly constituency between August 7 and August 13, 2026, through Forms 9, 10, 11, 11A and 11B. He requested all political parties to ensure that their respective BLAs-2 carefully examine the lists and verify the details.

The ADC also informed the representatives that notices are being served through the concerned BLOs to voters whose mapping could not be completed with the 2002 electoral roll, or whose names and other details could not be matched with the electoral records of that year. He urged political parties to spread awareness among the public regarding such notices.

Ahuja specifically appealed to representatives of all political parties to inform citizens that if they receive a notice for a hearing, they must appear before the concerned authority on the specified date, time and place. He also advised such voters to bring their original documents with them so that their cases can be examined and disposed of according to the prescribed procedure.

He said the cooperation of political parties and their Booth Level Agents is essential for ensuring transparency in the electoral roll revision process. He urged all representatives to carefully scrutinise the claims and objections and bring any discrepancy or concern to the notice of the election authorities within the prescribed period.

Ahuja also called upon political parties to create greater awareness among young citizens regarding voter registration. He said all eligible youngsters who have attained the age of 18 years or above as on July 1, 2026, should be encouraged to apply for inclusion of their names in the electoral roll.

Eligible youngsters can submit Form 6, along with the required documents, through their respective BLOs for registration as new voters. Ahuja said greater participation of young people in the voter registration process would strengthen their role in democracy and ensure that eligible first-time voters are not left out of the electoral system.

He urged political party representatives to undertake extensive public awareness campaigns regarding the schedule for filing claims and objections and the procedure for their disposal. He said maximum publicity would help ensure that eligible citizens are aware of their rights and the procedures available to them.

The ADC also requested all BLAs-1 and BLAs-2 to extend full cooperation to the election authorities during the revision exercise. He said active participation of political parties at the grassroots level would help identify genuine discrepancies, facilitate the inclusion of eligible voters and ensure that the electoral roll remains accurate.

Ahuja emphasised that the Special Intensive Revision is aimed at ensuring that no eligible person is deprived of the right to vote and that the electoral roll remains reliable and transparent. He said citizens should themselves check their names and other details in the draft electoral roll and take timely action if they find any discrepancy.

He said the administration is committed to completing the electoral roll revision process in accordance with the directions of the Election Commission of India. He appealed to political parties, BLOs, BLAs and members of the public to work together so that the electoral roll for the Yamunanagar Assembly Constituency becomes as accurate and comprehensive as possible.

The meeting concluded with an appeal to all stakeholders to cooperate fully with the election authorities and ensure that the Special Intensive Revision-2026 is carried out in a fair, transparent and systematic manner. The administration reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the voting rights of eligible citizens while ensuring the accuracy and credibility of the electoral roll.
