The National President of the Congress INTUC Federation, Swaminath Jaiswal, called on Member of Parliament Rajesh Ranjan (Pappu Yadav) at his New Delhi residence to enquire about his health and discuss key issues concerning labour welfare, employment and social security.

The meeting was attended by more than two dozen senior office-bearers of the federation, including National Vice President and scientist Dr. Rajesh Garhia from Yamunanagar. During the interaction, participants held detailed discussions on a range of labour-related issues, including workers’ rights, social security, minimum wages, contractual employment, technology-driven welfare measures and employment generation. The deliberations also touched upon the “Chanda Chori” issue recently raised in Parliament.

On the occasion, Swaminath Jaiswal formally invited MP Pappu Yadav to attend the INTUC Federation’s Annual General Meeting scheduled to be held in New Delhi on August 20, 2026, as the Chief Guest. He also presented a proposal requesting the MP to accept the position of Patron of the Federation. According to the federation, Pappu Yadav accepted the proposal and assured members of his continued support in raising issues concerning workers and labour welfare.

The meeting also resolved that a joint resolution focusing on inflation, unemployment, labour rights and technology-based labour reforms would be adopted during the annual convention. The federation intends to pursue these issues through parliamentary channels to seek policy-level interventions in the interest of workers across the country.

During the programme, federation leaders honoured MP Pappu Yadav with a bouquet and a ceremonial shawl as a mark of respect and appreciation.

National Vice President Dr. Rajesh Garhia said the August 20 convention is expected to witness the participation of leaders, labour representatives and workers from across India, making it a significant platform for discussing labour welfare and organisational priorities.
