Panic gripped Yamunanagar on Wednesday afternoon after a 51-year-old property dealer was allegedly murdered in broad daylight on Santpura Gurudwara Road. The victim, identified as Shiv Kumar, sustained critical head injuries after being attacked with a brick by a motorcycle-borne assailant. He was rushed to a nearby hospital by local residents, where doctors declared him dead during treatment. Police have registered a murder case and launched a detailed investigation.

According to the police, Shiv Kumar, a resident of Bhagwangarh, was associated with the property business. Preliminary investigations revealed that he was walking along the road while talking on his mobile phone when a suspicious biker was seen following him. As Shiv Kumar reached Santpura Gurudwara Road, the attacker allegedly struck him on the head with a brick before fleeing the scene.

The incident has sent shockwaves across the city due to its brazen nature. Police officials immediately reached the spot along with a forensic team, which collected evidence from the crime scene. The brick allegedly used in the attack has been recovered and sent for forensic examination.

Investigators are also examining CCTV footage from cameras installed near the scene. The footage reportedly shows a motorcycle rider following Shiv Kumar moments before the attack. Police are using the recordings to identify and trace the suspect.

Family members said Shiv Kumar had come to Model Town to purchase medicines for his ailing wife. His brother, Amit, stated that the family was unaware of any personal enmity or dispute that could have led to the attack.

A relative, Randhir Tyagi, said he was speaking to Shiv Kumar over the phone at the time of the incident. During the conversation, he suddenly heard a loud sound before the call was disconnected. Shortly afterwards, an unidentified  called him and informed him that Shiv Kumar had been seriously injured.

Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal said all possible angles are being investigated. He added that police teams are analysing CCTV footage, forensic evidence and statements of family members to identify and arrest those responsible. Officials expressed confidence that the accused would be traced soon through technical and scientific investigation.
