Safe City team educates children on good touch-bad touch, cyber safety, emergency helplines and the dangers of drug abuse

As part of its ongoing public awareness campaign, the Yamunanagar Police organised a safety awareness programme for students at Parshuram Bhishma Public School, Musimbal, focusing on child safety, cyber awareness and drug prevention.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal by the district’s Safe City team. ASI Neelam interacted with students and educated them on a range of safety-related issues aimed at helping children recognise potential risks and respond appropriately.
During the session, ASI Neelam explained the concepts of good touch and bad touch in a simple and age-appropriate manner. She encouraged students to immediately inform their parents, teachers or any trusted adult if they ever experience inappropriate behaviour or feel unsafe. She also highlighted the importance of contacting the police through the 112 emergency helpline whenever immediate assistance is required.
Students were also sensitised to the growing threat of cybercrime. They were advised not to share personal information with strangers online, avoid clicking on suspicious links and use social media responsibly. The police officer urged children to report any instance of online fraud, cyberbullying or suspicious digital activity to the police without delay.
The awareness programme also focused on the harmful effects of drug abuse. ASI Neelam explained that substance abuse can adversely affect an individual’s health, education, family life and future. She encouraged students to stay away from drugs and motivate their friends and family members to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
The interactive session concluded with students asking questions on various safety-related topics, which were answered by the police team. Officials urged children to remain alert, follow the law and immediately report any suspicious activity to the police.
The district police said similar awareness programmes will continue to be organised in schools and educational institutions to strengthen safety awareness and legal literacy among children and young people.
