Mayor Suman Bahmani and former minister Kanwar Pal lead sanitation drive in Ward 2; city-wide campaign to continue till July 19

The Yamunanagar-Jagadhri Municipal Corporation on Tuesday launched a special ‘Cleanliness Welcome’ campaign ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to Haryana on July 17, with civic authorities undertaking an extensive sanitation drive across the twin cities.The campaign was formally flagged off near D.D. Aggarwal School in Jagadhri’s Ward No. 2, where Mayor Suman Bahmani and former Haryana Cabinet Minister Kanwar Pal joined councillors, BJP leaders, Municipal Corporation officials and sanitation workers in a symbolic cleanliness drive. Local residents also participated in the initiative. During the campaign, sanitation teams cleaned roads, streets and public spaces in Sarwar Mohalla and Bawana Road, while residents were encouraged to adopt scientific waste management practices, including segregation of wet and dry waste and the use of the four-bin waste segregation system. Among those present were Additional Municipal Commissioner Dheeraj Kumar, Chief Minister’s Good Governance Associate (CMGGA) Abhishruti, Chief Sanitary Inspector Harjit Singh, sanitation inspectors and elected representatives, along with hundreds of sanitation workers.Mayor Suman Bahmani said cleanliness is not merely a campaign but the foundation of a healthy society. She urged citizens to actively participate in keeping the city clean, avoid single-use plastics and dispose of waste only in designated bins.“A clean and beautiful city is the right of every citizen, and keeping it clean is our collective responsibility,” she said.Former Cabinet Minister Kanwar Pal said the Prime Minister’s visit was a matter of pride for Haryana and urged residents to make cleanliness a part of their daily lives rather than treating it as a one-time campaign.Municipal officials said the special cleanliness drive will continue until July 19, covering every ward, street and public space in Yamunanagar and Jagadhri with the objective of improving sanitation and creating cleaner urban surroundings.
