Deputy Commissioner Preeti reviews arrangements for July 26 anti-drug awareness run; administration appeals for mass public participation

With registrations crossing 40,000, the Yamunanagar district administration has stepped up preparations for the ‘Run Against Drugs – Nasha Chhodo, Jeevan Jodo’ awareness campaign scheduled to be held on July 26 under the Haryana Government’s Drug-Free Haryana initiative. Deputy Commissioner Preeti, accompanied by Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal, Additional Deputy Commissioner Naveen Ahuja, Additional Superintendent of Police Ashish Chaudhary and Jagadhri SDM Vishwanath, inspected the event venue and reviewed arrangements for the 10-kilometre public awareness run.  During the inspection, the Deputy Commissioner directed officials to complete all logistical arrangements well in advance, including security, traffic regulation, medical assistance, drinking water, sanitation, parking and other essential public facilities to ensure the smooth conduct of the event.  She said the run would serve as a major public awareness initiative to strengthen the state’s campaign against drug abuse and encourage people, especially the youth, to adopt a healthy and addiction-free lifestyle. The administration has invited citizens to register for the event through the official online portal or the designated QR code, noting that participation has already crossed the 40,000-mark, reflecting strong public support for the campaign. Preeti appealed to residents, students, government and private sector employees, social organisations and sports enthusiasts to participate in large numbers and help transform the anti-drug campaign into a mass movement. “Every citizen has an important role in building a drug-free Haryana. Collective participation will strengthen the campaign and contribute to a healthier, safer and more empowered society,” she said. Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal instructed officials to ensure seamless traffic management and deploy adequate police personnel throughout the route to guarantee the safety of participants. He also emphasised close coordination among all departments for the successful and peaceful conduct of the event.
