Chief Minister urges youth to embrace modern education, science and technology while preserving values, traditions and their connection with India’s roots

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has urged families to pass on the teachings and message of Lord Krishna to the younger generation, saying that modern education and technological advancement must go hand in hand with strong cultural values, humility and a sense of service.
Addressing the Shri Krishna Janmashtami Mahotsav organised at Shivala Ramkundi in Ladwa on Friday, Saini said young people should acquire modern education, excel in science and technology and bring recognition to Haryana and India across the world while remaining connected to their traditions, culture and roots.
He said the younger generation should combine modernity with discipline, talent with humility, and success with a spirit of service. Such a balanced approach, he said, reflects the strength of Indian culture and can provide a strong foundation for the vision of a Developed India and Developed Haryana.
The Chief Minister inspected the exhibition organised as part of the celebration. Former Haryana minister of state Subhash Sudha and Chief Minister’s Office in-charge Kailash Saini were also present. Saini extended his heartfelt greetings to the people of Haryana and the country on the occasion of Shri Krishna Janmashtami.
He also announced financial assistance of ₹21 lakh for the Vaman Dwadashi Mela Committee.
Saini said Janmashtami is not merely a religious celebration but an occasion to remember the timeless message of duty, truth, courage, love and public welfare conveyed by Lord Krishna through his life and teachings. He said Krishna’s life inspires people to remain firm on the path of truth and righteousness even when circumstances become extremely difficult.
The Chief Minister said Lord Krishna was born in a prison under highly adverse circumstances, at a time when injustice prevailed. Yet, he said, hope emerged from that darkness and ultimately became a force in the destruction of unrighteousness. The central message of Janmashtami, according to Saini, is that no matter how deep the darkness may be, it cannot prevent the emergence of light.
He said Lord Krishna never taught people to run away from difficulties. Instead, he inspired humanity to confront challenges with courage. Remaining silent in the face of injustice, he said, cannot be considered righteousness, while standing firmly in support of what is right represents true moral duty.
Saini said Krishna’s personality has a unique connection with people across generations and sections of society. For children, he remains the playful Kanha; for mothers, he is Yashoda’s beloved son; for his childhood companions, a trusted friend; for devotees, the divine; and for Arjuna, a guide and mentor.
The Chief Minister said Krishna’s life also demonstrates that greatness is not determined by position but by conduct. Despite being regarded as divine, Krishna valued his friendship with Sudama. He protected society by lifting Govardhan, responded to Draupadi’s call for help and accepted the role of Arjuna’s charioteer.
These episodes, Saini said, convey an enduring lesson that a person who stands with others in their moments of happiness and distress is truly great.
Referring to Kurukshetra’s spiritual significance, Saini said the people of the region are fortunate to be connected with the sacred land where Lord Krishna delivered the immortal message of the Bhagavad Gita to humanity.
He said it was on this land that Krishna guided a confused Arjuna towards the path of duty and action. The Chief Minister urged people not to abandon their responsibilities when faced with difficulties and to perform their duties with sincerity and honesty without becoming excessively concerned about the outcome.
Saini said the message of the Bhagavad Gita has also remained a source of inspiration for him in public life. He described public service as his duty and said fulfilling that responsibility with complete dedication was his moral obligation.
Addressing the youth in particular, the Chief Minister said youth is not merely a stage of life defined by age, but represents energy, determination and courage. He said Lord Krishna confronted oppression at a young age, organised society and took difficult decisions in the cause of righteousness.
Saini said young people today face several challenges, including intense competition, distractions, the danger of substance abuse and negative influences. In such circumstances, he said, the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita become even more relevant.
He advised young people to remain focused on their goals, work hard, respect their parents, maintain physical fitness, stay away from drugs and channel their energy towards nation-building. Once young people recognise their own potential, he said, no goal would remain beyond their reach.
India Moving Towards New Heights of Development Under PM Modi
Saini said India under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is moving towards new heights of development while taking pride in its rich cultural heritage. He said the country is demonstrating to the world that modern development and ancient culture are not contradictory but can complement each other.
He pointed out that India is advancing in digital technology, science, space exploration and modern infrastructure while its traditions, faith and cultural heritage are also being presented to the world with renewed confidence.
According to Saini, this represents the emerging identity of a new India that remains connected to its roots while moving confidently towards the future.
The Chief Minister also said that when citizens place their trust in an elected representative, that confidence creates an obligation to work continuously for public welfare. He assured residents of Ladwa that the government was committed to improving development, expanding public facilities and making life better for every family in the constituency.
Students Impress Audience With Cultural Performances
Students from Tony Sanwaria Art Group, Early Step School, Kidzee School, Jai Bharat High School, Sai Grace International School, Discovery World School, Sugni Devi Arya Kanya Senior Secondary School, Doon Public School, NY Dance Academy and Bombay Dance Academy presented cultural performances during the programme.
The performances received an enthusiastic response from the audience and added a vibrant cultural dimension to the Janmashtami celebrations.
