A meeting with representatives of political parties was held under the chairmanship of the Electoral Registration Officer of 08-Jagadhri Assembly Constituency and SDM Jagadhri to discuss claims and objections received up to August 6, 2026 under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

The meeting was conducted in accordance with the guidelines of the Election Commission of India. Representatives including Kailash Chand of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Rahul Bhan of the Aam Aadmi Party, Gurjit Kaur of the Jannayak Janta Party and Ravinder Singh of the Indian National Congress participated.

The SDM informed the representatives that the draft electoral rolls were published on July 31 and copies had been provided to all political parties. The draft rolls are also available for public inspection at polling stations with Booth Level Officers (BLOs). Citizens can also inspect the rolls free of cost at the concerned office and access them through the Chief Electoral Officer, Haryana website.

The meeting was further informed that lists of claims and objections received between August 1 and August 6 under Forms 9, 10, 11, 11A and 11B were provided to representatives of political parties. The representatives were requested to ensure that their respective BLAs thoroughly examine the lists.

Officials also explained that notices are being issued through BLOs to voters whose details could not be mapped or matched with the 2002 electoral rolls. Political party representatives were urged to ensure that anyone receiving a notice appears at the designated place, date and time with the required original documents.

The SDM also appealed to political parties to spread awareness among eligible young citizens who attained the age of 18 years or above as on July 1, 2026. Such citizens can apply for inclusion in the electoral roll through Form 6 with their respective BLOs.

The administration said the objective of the SIR exercise is to make electoral rolls accurate and ensure that all eligible citizens are included in the democratic process.

Administration Strengthens Security as Kanwar Yatra Enters Final Phase

Deputy Commissioner Preeti said the Kanwar Yatra, which began on July 30, 2026, will conclude on August 11 with devotees offering the sacred Ganga water at temples. With a large number of Kanwariyas returning through Yamunanagar towards their respective destinations, the district administration has strengthened arrangements for their safety and smooth movement.

The Deputy Commissioner said adequate security and traffic arrangements have been made to prevent any untoward incident during the final phase of the pilgrimage. Special attention is being given to the movement of Kanwariyas on roads and other sensitive locations.

Considering the expected increase in the number of Kanwariyas during the final two days of the pilgrimage, the administration has ordered the closure of JMIT Radaur, Polytechnic College Damla and Government Senior Secondary School Damla on August 10 and 11.

The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure keeping in view the heavy movement of Kanwariyas and the need to maintain safety and smooth traffic flow in the surrounding areas.

The Deputy Commissioner appealed to residents to cooperate with the administration during the final phase of the Kanwar Yatra and follow traffic and safety advisories.

She said the administration remains committed to ensuring that devotees complete their religious journey safely and that ordinary commuters and residents also face minimum inconvenience.
