Sharp weapons, modified silencers and unsafe vehicles banned as district steps up surveillance with CCTV and traffic management

The Yamunanagar Police have rolled out an extensive security and traffic management plan to ensure the Kanwar Yatra is conducted peacefully, safely and without disruption across the district. Acting on the directions of Superintendent of Police (IPS) Kamaldeep Goyal, all Station House Officers (SHOs) and police officials have been instructed to maintain strict law and order while ensuring the safety and convenience of pilgrims.
SP Goyal said adequate police personnel have been deployed along major Kanwar routes, camps and other sensitive locations. Police teams will conduct regular patrolling in their respective jurisdictions, while traffic police and local police will jointly manage vehicular movement to minimise congestion and facilitate the smooth passage of devotees.
Issuing an advisory to Kanwariyas, the police have prohibited the carrying of spears, tridents and other sharp weapons, as well as narcotic substances and other banned items during the pilgrimage. Authorities have also directed that Kanwars should not exceed 12 feet in height.
Pilgrims travelling on motorcycles have been advised against using modified or high-noise silencers and must carry all valid vehicle documents while travelling. The police further clarified that the use of tractor-trolleys and other unsafe or illegally modified vehicles for the pilgrimage is strictly prohibited.
Officials warned that strict legal action would be taken against anyone found violating the prescribed guidelines. Continuous police patrolling will be maintained throughout the pilgrimage, with CCTV cameras deployed at key locations to monitor security. Social media platforms will also remain under surveillance to curb rumours, misinformation and any attempts to disturb public order.
Appealing for public cooperation, SP Kamaldeep Goyal urged Kanwar pilgrims, camp organisers and residents to uphold peace, communal harmony and mutual respect during the religious event. He requested citizens to immediately report any suspicious person, object or activity to the nearest police station or by dialling 112, enabling authorities to respond swiftly and ensure a secure pilgrimage for all.
