Kurukshetra Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Vishram Kumar Meena has assured voters that no name will be deleted from the electoral roll without following the due legal process and providing an opportunity for hearing.
He urged citizens to actively participate in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 exercise and ensure that their electoral details are accurate before the publication of the final voters’ list.
Addressing the media, Meena said the draft electoral rolls have already been published, and Booth Level Officers (BLOs), Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) will remain on alert until August 30, 2026, to receive claims and objections from voters.
He clarified that if a voter’s name is missing from the draft list published on July 31, they can submit Form-6 to get their name included before the final electoral roll is published on October 3, 2026. Young citizens who attained the age of 18 years on or before July 1, 2026, are also eligible to register themselves using the same form.
The Deputy Commissioner said the process of resolving claims and objections will continue until September 28. During the notice phase, BLOs will issue notices to voters whose details could not be verified during the revision exercise or where discrepancies have been detected. He reiterated that no name would be removed without giving the concerned voter an opportunity to present their case.
Explaining the grievance redressal mechanism, Meena said voters dissatisfied with the decision of the Electoral Registration Officer can file an appeal at the district level within 15 days. If the issue remains unresolved, a further appeal can be made before the Chief Electoral Officer within 30 days.
He also explained the purpose of different electoral forms. While Form-6 is meant for fresh voter registration, Form-7 can be used for deletion of names, and Form-8 is available for corrections or updates in voter details. These services are also accessible through online platforms.
To ensure complete transparency, Meena said both he and the Divisional Commissioner would personally monitor the verification process. Lists of all claims and objections received each day will be displayed at the respective sub-divisional offices and the district election office. Special voter registration camps will also be organised in colleges to encourage youth participation in the electoral process.
