DC Preeti urges religious and social organisations to turn July 26 campaign into a people’s movement against substance abuse

With preparations gathering pace for the ‘Run Against Drugs – Yamunanagar Ke Sang’ marathon,Deputy Commissioner Preeti on Tuesday called upon religious and social organisations to play a leading role in transforming the anti-drug campaign into a mass public movement.
Chairing a meeting at the District Secretariat, the Deputy Commissioner urged representatives of various faith-based and voluntary organisations to ensure maximum participation in the awareness marathon being organised on July 26 under the Haryana Government’s ‘Nasha Chhodo, Jeevan Jodo’ initiative.
She said the campaign, which will be flagged off by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, reflects the state’s commitment to building a drug-free Haryana, adding that Yamunanagar has been chosen to spearhead the initiative.
Emphasising collective responsibility, Preeti said the fight against drug abuse must rise above religious, social and community differences. “Every section of society has a role to play in protecting young people from the menace of drugs and building a healthier future,” she said.
The Deputy Commissioner also highlighted the attractive prize structure for the marathon. Winners in the men’s and women’s categories will receive ₹1 lakh, ₹75,000 and ₹51,000 for the first three positions, while participants finishing from fourth to tenth place will be awarded ₹5,100 each.
She reminded residents that registrations will remain open until 5 pm on July 24 through the official marathon portal and QR code.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Navin Ahuja, Red Cross Secretary Sanjeev Kumar Dhiman, representatives of the Nirankari Mission, Radha Soami Satsang, Dera Sacha Sauda, Shirdi Sai Temple Committee, Shri Krishna Kripa Seva Samiti, Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple, Hazrat Pir Dargah Budia, and several other religious and social organisations.
