In an effort to strengthen safety awareness among school students, Yamunanagar Police has intensified its outreach programme across educational institutions, sensitising youngsters about emergency response systems, cybercrime, substance abuse and responsible citizenship.

As part of the initiative, the Safe City Team organised an awareness session at Bloomberg Public School near Jodiyo Naka, where students were educated on the correct use of emergency helpline numbers and the importance of staying vigilant against cybercrime and drug abuse.

The district-wide campaign is being conducted under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal, with police teams regularly visiting schools to promote legal awareness and personal safety.

Addressing the students, ASI Neelam explained the purpose of key emergency helpline numbers, including 112 for police assistance, 1091 for women’s safety, 1098 for child protection, 1073 for road emergencies and 1930 for reporting cyber fraud. She urged students to use these services responsibly and avoid making false or misleading emergency calls.

The session also highlighted the dangers of substance abuse. Students were encouraged to stay away from drugs, spread awareness among their friends and family, and immediately report any suspected drug-related activities to the police.

Interactive discussions on cyber safety, personal security and social responsibility formed a key part of the programme, with students actively participating and seeking guidance on various safety-related issues.

A police spokesperson said the awareness drive is aimed at building a safety-conscious generation while encouraging respect for the law and responsible civic behaviour. Similar programmes will continue across schools and educational institutions in the district.
