The Municipal Corporation of Yamunanagar-Jagadhri organised a special cleanliness drive in Wards 21 and 22, covering Bank Colony, Golden Puri and the area around Neelkamal School, under the Seva Sankalp and Swachhata Hi Seva campaigns.
Mayor Suman Bahmani, BJP district general secretary Narendra Singh, ward councillors Manjeet Kaur and Ruchi Sharma, Chief Sanitary Inspector Amit Kamboj, and Sanitary Inspector Pradeep Dahiya inaugurated the drive by taking up brooms and cleaning the area. The mayor also used a spade to remove grass and accumulated dirt along the roadside, encouraging residents to take an active role in maintaining cleanliness.
Residents and civic teams join hands
During the drive, municipal teams worked alongside local residents to clean several locations. The collected waste was sent for appropriate disposal. Residents were also encouraged not to litter public places and to maintain cleanliness in streets and other shared spaces.
Public representatives and municipal staff used the occasion to spread awareness about keeping neighbourhoods and public spaces clean, highlighting the role of community participation in sanitation efforts.
Mayor calls cleanliness a daily responsibility
Bahmani said building a clean and beautiful Yamunanagar-Jagadhri was a collective responsibility of the Municipal Corporation and every citizen. She stressed that cleanliness drives should not remain limited to a single day or an official campaign but should become part of people’s everyday habits.
She said the city could remain clean only when residents took responsibility not just for their homes but also for nearby streets, roads and public areas. She appealed to people not to throw waste in the open and to hand over household garbage to door-to-door waste collection vehicles.
Public participation key to cleaner neighbourhoods
The mayor emphasised that public participation was essential to making cleanliness initiatives effective on a wider scale. While the Municipal Corporation would continue its efforts, residents also needed to contribute by keeping their homes and surroundings clean and disposing of household waste responsibly.

The campaign highlighted the importance of cooperation between civic authorities and residents in maintaining cleaner neighbourhoods and improving sanitation in Yamunanagar-Jagadhri.
