Preparations for the Haryana Safai Mahakumbh to be held in Yamunanagar on October 7 have gathered pace, with the Municipal Corporation finalising the route map and dividing the Model Town area into sectors for the mega cleanliness campaign. Around 5,000 people are expected to participate simultaneously, putting nearly 10,000 hands to work for a common cleanliness mission.

Municipal Corporation Commissioner Mahabir Prasad inspected the proposed Safai Mahakumbh site in Model Town along with civic officials and reviewed arrangements at Nehru Park, Dussehra Ground and other important locations. During the inspection, he examined the route map and issued directions regarding deployment of officials and staff.

The campaign will focus on streets, internal lanes and major roads around Nehru Park. To ensure that such a large-scale operation is conducted in an organised manner, the area has been divided into sectors. Officials and sanitation teams will be assigned specific responsibilities so the cleaning activity can be carried out simultaneously across designated locations.

Route Map and Sector-Wise Planning

The route map is intended to provide a clear operational framework for the October 7 campaign. The Municipal Corporation is working on arrangements covering sanitation resources, manpower, equipment, security and traffic management. Officials have been directed to ensure that essential preparations are completed within the stipulated time.

Commissioner Mahabir Prasad said the Haryana Safai Mahakumbh would be organised across all districts of the state, with more than 5,000 people expected to participate simultaneously in each district. He said the initiative would combine a large-scale cleanliness exercise with public participation and awareness about keeping cities clean.

3,630 Registrations Already Recorded

The campaign has also generated participation interest among residents. According to the Municipal Corporation, 3,630 people from Yamunanagar had registered for the Safai Mahakumbh by Thursday. Residents wishing to participate can complete online registration by October 3 through the registration portal announced for the event.

The registration process is intended to help organisers plan manpower, sector-wise deployment and other logistical requirements in advance. With thousands of participants expected at the same location and time, advance planning will be important for maintaining orderly movement and ensuring that cleanliness teams can work effectively.

Guinness World Records Team to Be Present

The organisers have said that a Guinness World Records team will also be present during the campaign as the authorities seek to document the participation of a very large number of people in a simultaneous cleanliness drive. The proposed record-related exercise will add another dimension to an event primarily focused on public participation in sanitation and cleanliness.

For the Municipal Corporation, the scale of participation also means that arrangements beyond routine sanitation work will have to be completed in advance. These include sanitation personnel, cleaning equipment, security arrangements, traffic management and coordination among officials working at different points.

Focus on Public Participation

Commissioner Mahabir Prasad appealed to residents to participate in the Safai Mahakumbh and take a collective pledge to contribute to a cleaner, healthier and more beautiful Yamunanagar. He said preparations were being completed in a time-bound manner and stressed that the success of the campaign would depend on coordinated efforts by civic officials, sanitation workers and members of the public.

He directed officials to complete arrangements related to sanitation, manpower, equipment, safety and traffic management on time. The objective is to ensure that the campaign remains focused on cleaning designated areas while providing a structured environment for the large number of participants expected to join.

‘10,000 Hands Will Work Together’

Mayor Suman Bahmani said public participation would be central to the effort to build a clean and beautiful Yamunanagar. She described the October 7 event in Model Town as an opportunity for residents to demonstrate their responsibility towards cleanliness and civic surroundings.

“Five thousand people and 10,000 hands will work together” is the central public-participation message associated with the campaign. The Mayor appealed to residents to join the initiative in large numbers and contribute to making the cleanliness drive successful.

Officials Review Ground Arrangements

During the site inspection, Executive Engineers Vikas Dhiman and Harish Kumar, Assistant Engineers Mrinal Jaiswal and Surendra Dahiya, Chief Sanitation Inspectors Vinod Beniwal and Harjeet Singh, Amit Kamboj, Govind Sharma, Junior Engineers Ajay Kumar and Abhishek, Sanitation Inspector Pradeep Dahiya and other officials were present.

The civic administration’s immediate focus is now on completing the remaining preparations before October 7. The sector-wise route map, staff deployment and logistical planning are intended to help coordinate thousands of residents at multiple cleaning points around Model Town and Nehru Park.
