The Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) has suspended a lineman posted under the Sadhaura Sub-Division after an internal inquiry found negligence in the discharge of official duties. Superintending Engineer Sombir Bhanotia said the action was taken following a detailed investigation into the conduct of Lineman Rajesh Bakshi. The inquiry was conducted after reviewing a report submitted by the Executive Engineer of the Operation Division, Bilaspur. Based on the findings, the employee was placed under suspension with immediate effect in accordance with departmental rules. Bhanotia said the power utility is closely monitoring field operations to ensure consumers receive safe, reliable and uninterrupted electricity supply, particularly during the peak summer season. He directed all engineers and field staff to carry out regular inspections and preventive maintenance of power lines, transformers and other electrical infrastructure. Any lapse affecting electricity distribution, he warned, would invite strict departmental action. To strengthen night-time monitoring, UHBVN has deployed Sub-Divisional Officers (SDOs) on rotational night duty through its ABT Cell, enabling prompt response to technical faults and uninterrupted supervision of the power network. The Superintending Engineer also instructed officials to maintain 24-hour technical teams across their respective jurisdictions to ensure swift resolution of consumer complaints. Appealing to consumers, Bhanotia urged the public to report electricity-related issues through the 1912 toll-free helpline and cautioned against power theft, stating that illegal connections damage electrical infrastructure, increase technical faults and adversely affect genuine consumers.
