Activa theft suspect arrested as Yamunanagar Anti-Vehicle Theft Cell recovers stolen scooter

Yamunanagar Police’s Anti-Vehicle Theft Cell has arrested a man in connection with the alleged theft of an Activa scooter from Model Town and recovered the stolen vehicle, police said. The accused was produced before a court and sent to judicial custody.

Police Act on Secret Information
According to police spokespersons, the action was carried out under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goel. Anti-Vehicle Theft Cell in-charge Rajesh Kumar said his team received information that a youth carrying a stolen Activa would travel from Badi Majra towards Uttar Pradesh.
Based on the input, a special team comprising Head Constables Harbilas, Hardeep Singh, Yogesh, Naresh and Sandeep was formed. The team set up a blockade at a likely location and began checking vehicles.
Suspect Detained With Activa
During the checking, police stopped a youth riding an Activa. The vehicle documents were found to be suspicious, and further questioning allegedly revealed that the scooter had been stolen. Police identified the accused as Deepak, son of Vijay Singh and a resident of Dashmesh Colony.
Police said the accused admitted during questioning that he had stolen the Activa from Model Town on August 25. Investigators further alleged that he had changed the colour of the scooter to conceal its identity.
Police Continue Vehicle Theft Drive
Rajesh Kumar said the recovery could help police investigate other vehicle theft incidents. The police spokesperson said the district police are continuing a campaign against vehicle theft and will take action against those found involved in such offences.
Police have also appealed to residents to remain alert about vehicle security and immediately inform authorities about suspicious activity. Further investigation into the case is underway.
