Police and cow protection volunteers launch joint operation after information about reported cow slaughter in Kanyawala forest, leading to one arrest and recovery of around 100 kilograms of meat and alleged equipment

Yamunanagar police and members of a cow protection group have arrested one person after acting on information about alleged cow slaughter in the forest area of Kanyawala village under Pratap Nagar police station. Some other suspects reportedly escaped during the operation.
According to police, around 100 kilograms of meat and equipment allegedly used for cow slaughter were recovered from the spot. The operation followed information that a group of people was allegedly involved in killing cattle in the Kanyawala forest.
Police Receive Information and Begin Surveillance
Anand Kumar Sharma, president of the cow protection group and a resident of Malikpur Khadar, informed Pratap Nagar police after receiving the information. Police personnel and members of the group subsequently reached the forest and began monitoring the area.
Suspects Seen Arriving on Two Motorcycles
Police said that during surveillance, some people were seen approaching the forest on two motorcycles. When the team signalled them to stop, the riders allegedly dropped bags and plastic sacks before turning back towards the forest after noticing the police presence.
The police team followed them and managed to apprehend one person, while the others allegedly escaped under cover of darkness. The arrested suspect was identified as Ikram, a resident of Pipli Majra.
During questioning, Ikram allegedly named two associates, Aneesh of Malikpur Khadar and Pappu of Jalahu Majra. Investigators are also examining the possible role of other people in the case.
Meat and Alleged Slaughter Equipment Recovered
Police said two bags and a plastic sack abandoned at the site were searched. Meat packed in plastic sheets was recovered from them and was estimated to weigh about one quintal.

- Two iron tools
- Knives and other cutting implements
- Ropes allegedly used for tying cattle
The recovered material has been taken into police custody for investigation and examination.
Case Registered, Search for Absconding Suspects Continues
Police have registered a case on the complaint under the Haryana Gauvansh Sanrakshan and Gausamvardhan Act. Investigating officer Jaswinder said the arrested suspect was produced before a court, while teams were conducting raids at possible locations to trace the absconding suspects.
Police said the recovered meat and other material have been preserved for examination. Investigators are now working to establish the identity and role of other persons allegedly involved in the incident.
