Experts encourage students to explore skill development, self-employment and innovation through yoga and creative design techniques

 The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of DAV Girls College, Yamunanagar organised an Innovation and Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme for students of Government Senior Secondary School, Model Colony, with the aim of promoting innovation, skill development, entrepreneurship and self-reliance among young learners.The programme was conducted under the guidance of Acting Principal Dr Surinder Kaur and IIC Convener Vivek, as part of the institution’s outreach initiative to inspire school students to develop entrepreneurial thinking and practical skills at an early stage.During the session, Dr Ranjana, Head of the Department of Yoga and Innovation Ambassador, highlighted the importance of regular yoga practice in achieving both physical and mental well-being. She explained that yoga not only improves overall health but also enhances concentration, self-confidence and positive thinking—qualities essential for academic success and personal growth.Encouraging students to make yoga a part of their daily routine, she said a healthy mind and body form the foundation for innovation and creative thinking.The programme also featured an interactive demonstration by Manjeet Kaur, Head of the Department of Fashion Designing and Innovation Ambassador, who introduced students to various hand-printing and block-printing techniques.She demonstrated the practical application of these traditional design methods and explained how such creative skills can be transformed into sustainable self-employment and entrepreneurial opportunities.Manjeet Kaur encouraged students to explore creative industries as potential career options and explained how innovation combined with traditional craftsmanship can generate income and support small business ventures.The awareness programme concluded with an interactive session in which students expressed keen interest in entrepreneurship, skill-based learning and innovation-driven career opportunities.
