10,500-participant target set for Yamunanagar as the Centre’s youth initiative seeks to connect young people with the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047

The Government of India’s Department of Youth Affairs, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, is organising the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue (VBYLD) 2027 with the objective of connecting the country’s youth with the vision of building a developed India and encouraging their active participation in nation building. The initiative is being positioned as an important platform through which young people can express their ideas, demonstrate their talents and contribute to the broader vision of Viksit Bharat@2047.
The initial stages of VBYLD 2027 are being conducted online, providing eligible young people an opportunity to participate from their respective locations. The first stage is the Viksit Bharat Quiz, which is being conducted through the MY Bharat portal. The quiz will consist of 20 questions and participants will have 10 minutes to complete it. Each participant will be given one opportunity to attempt the quiz.
The quiz is intended to serve as the entry point for young people seeking to participate in the wider VBYLD 2027 process. Following the first stage, the second stage will comprise the Viksit Bharat Essay Writing Competition, giving participants an opportunity to articulate their thoughts and perspectives on issues connected with the country’s development and future.
The subsequent stages of the initiative will provide selected participants with opportunities to present their ideas and talents through presentations and other activities. The programme seeks to encourage young people not merely to participate in competitions but also to develop the confidence and leadership abilities required to contribute meaningfully to society.
Alongside the online activities, various youth talent and cultural programmes will also be organised at the district level. The district-level championship will feature competitions in folk songs, folk dances, declamation, poetry writing or recitation and painting. These activities are designed to encourage creativity, self-expression, cultural talent and leadership among young people.
The district-level component is expected to provide participants with a wider platform to showcase abilities that may not necessarily be reflected through conventional academic activities. Folk arts and cultural competitions will also provide young people with an opportunity to remain connected with India’s diverse cultural traditions while expressing themselves through contemporary platforms.
MY Bharat Yamunanagar Deputy Director Mrs Omkar Swami said the district MY Bharat office was working to encourage maximum participation of eligible youth in VBYLD 2027. The outreach is being carried out through schools, colleges, Industrial Training Institutes, youth clubs, MY Bharat nodal officers and youth ambassadors across the district.
For Yamunanagar district, a target of 10,500 participants by September 25, 2026, has been set. The district office is seeking the active cooperation of educational institutions and youth organisations to achieve the participation target and ensure that eligible young people are made aware of the opportunities available under the initiative.
The MY Bharat district office has appealed to educational institutions and youth organisations to encourage young people to register on the MY Bharat portal and participate in the Viksit Bharat Quiz in large numbers. Institutions have also been urged to motivate students and members of youth organisations to take advantage of the initiative and participate in the different stages.
The campaign seeks to combine knowledge, creativity, cultural expression and leadership development. Through the quiz, participants can test their awareness and understanding, while the essay competition will give them an opportunity to put their thoughts into words. The district-level cultural competitions will further enable young people to demonstrate their abilities in areas such as folk traditions, public speaking, poetry and visual arts.
Officials said the initiative is intended to provide young people with an opportunity to become active participants in the national development journey. The vision of Viksit Bharat@2047 places emphasis on the role of the country’s young population, and programmes such as VBYLD 2027 seek to create platforms where youth can contribute ideas, develop leadership skills and engage with issues related to India’s future.
The Yamunanagar district administration and MY Bharat office are also seeking greater involvement from youth clubs and educational institutions so that participation is not limited to a small group of students. The outreach mechanism involving schools, colleges, ITIs, youth clubs, nodal officers and youth ambassadors is intended to take information about VBYLD 2027 to a wider section of eligible young people.
Mrs Omkar Swami said VBYLD 2027 represented an important opportunity for young people to connect with the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047. She said the district office was making efforts to ensure that every eligible young person in Yamunanagar was encouraged to participate actively in the programme.
She emphasised that the initiative would provide opportunities at multiple stages. Online activities such as the quiz and essay competition would allow participants to begin their journey through the MY Bharat platform, while district-level championships would offer opportunities to showcase creativity, cultural talent and leadership abilities.
The district MY Bharat office has therefore appealed to educational institutions, youth clubs and young people to participate enthusiastically. The officials said broader participation would help ensure that talented young people from different backgrounds get an opportunity to present their ideas and abilities.
The initiative also places cultural activities alongside knowledge-based competitions, creating a broader platform for youth participation. Folk songs and dances can highlight local and traditional cultural expressions, while declamation, poetry and painting can provide avenues for individual creativity and communication.
For Yamunanagar, the target of 10,500 participants reflects the scale of the district’s outreach effort. Institutions and youth organisations are expected to play a key role in informing eligible participants, facilitating registration and encouraging them to complete the initial online stages within the stipulated process.
The VBYLD 2027 initiative ultimately aims to create a stronger connection between India’s youth and the long-term national development vision. By combining online competitions with district-level cultural and talent activities, the programme seeks to give young people opportunities to learn, express themselves, compete and develop leadership qualities.
The MY Bharat district office has urged all eligible youth in Yamunanagar to register through the MY Bharat platform and participate in the Viksit Bharat Quiz.
