The MSME Development Office, Karnal, under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India, organised an awareness programme for beneficiaries of the PM Vishwakarma scheme at Government ITI, Yamunanagar, on September 8, 2026. The programme focused on strengthening the business capabilities of artisans by providing practical guidance on digital marketing, product packaging, branding, artificial intelligence and other aspects of modern entrepreneurship.
The programme was inaugurated by Meenu Dhiman, Assistant Director, MSME Development and Facilitation Office, Karnal, who delivered the welcome address. She highlighted the importance of connecting traditional artisans with modern business tools and market opportunities so that they can improve the reach and commercial potential of their products.
Government ITI Yamunanagar Principal Bhupinder Singh Sangwan delivered the keynote address and explained the significance and benefits of the PM Vishwakarma scheme. He emphasised the need for beneficiaries to make effective use of the opportunities and support available under the scheme for strengthening their skills and businesses.
Rohit Kumar, IEO, District MSME Centre, Yamunanagar, briefed participants about the verification and training process for PM Vishwakarma beneficiaries. He explained the procedures that beneficiaries need to follow and highlighted the importance of completing the required formalities to access the benefits available under the scheme.
Subhash Chand, Lead District Manager, Yamunanagar, provided information regarding the loan process and related financial facilities. He explained key aspects of accessing credit and encouraged beneficiaries to understand the financial procedures before expanding their business activities.
Guidance on important aspects of business management was also provided during the programme. Ravi Goyal, Director, RSETI, spoke to artisans about cost calculation, pricing and financial literacy. He explained that proper calculation of production costs and appropriate pricing are essential for maintaining profitability and ensuring the sustainable operation of small businesses.
Participants were also introduced to the growing importance of digital marketing. Mukesh Vivan of Infotech Solutions, Karnal, explained how digital platforms can be used effectively to promote products, reach potential customers and expand business opportunities beyond traditional local markets.
He highlighted the importance of establishing a digital presence in an increasingly competitive marketplace. For traditional artisans, effective use of digital platforms can provide an opportunity to showcase their products to customers in different parts of the country and potentially access wider markets.
The programme also focused on export opportunities available for products made by Vishwakarma artisans. Chartered Accountant and export consultant Jatin Sehgal briefed participants about potential international market opportunities and explained the importance of understanding market requirements while exploring exports.
Shashi Kumar, District Resource Person at the District MSME Centre, provided detailed information on product packaging and branding. He explained that attractive and appropriate packaging can significantly influence the presentation of a product and help artisans create a stronger identity for their goods in competitive markets.
He also discussed ways of improving market access for artisan products and stressed that branding and packaging should be treated as important components of business development rather than merely as additional expenses.
Artificial intelligence was another key focus area of the programme. Aarti Kania, Young Professional at the MSME Development and Facilitation Office, Karnal, explained the potential applications of artificial intelligence in business activities.
Participants were introduced to the possibilities of using AI-based tools for various commercial activities. The session aimed to familiarise traditional artisans and small entrepreneurs with emerging technologies that could help them improve efficiency, communication, marketing and other business processes.
The programme also included an interactive question-and-answer session. Participants raised questions related to the PM Vishwakarma scheme, business operations, financial facilities, digital marketing, product promotion and other aspects of entrepreneurship. Experts responded to their queries and provided guidance based on the issues raised by the beneficiaries.
One of the practical features of the programme was assistance provided to beneficiaries in registering themselves on e-commerce platforms. This enabled participating artisans to take steps towards making their products available through digital marketplaces.
QR codes were also generated for the businesses and products of participating beneficiaries. Such digital tools can help customers access product or business information more conveniently and can support artisans in developing a stronger digital identity.
The organisers said the programme was designed to bridge the gap between traditional skills and modern business practices. By providing information about digital tools, financial literacy, packaging, branding, exports and artificial intelligence, the initiative aimed to help PM Vishwakarma beneficiaries improve the commercial prospects of their traditional occupations.
The programme concluded with an expression of gratitude to all participating officials, experts and beneficiaries for their contribution and participation.
