Deputy Commissioner Preeti reviews arrangements for July 26 campaign, urges public representatives and youth to ensure maximum participation

Deputy Commissioner Preeti on Tuesday reviewed preparations for the district-level anti-drug awareness run scheduled to be held on July 26, directing all concerned departments to complete logistical and administrative arrangements well in advance to ensure the successful conduct of the event.Chairing a review meeting, the Deputy Commissioner appealed to panchayat representatives, municipal councillors and public representatives to actively mobilise people in their respective areas and encourage them to participate in the campaign against drug abuse.The event, themed “Nasha Chhodo–Jeevan Jodo” (Quit Drugs, Embrace Life) and “Nashe Se Jung–Yamunanagar Ke Sang” (United Against Drugs), is being organised as part of the district administration’s efforts to raise awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse and promote a healthy, drug-free society.Preeti said the response from the public has been encouraging, with more than 21,000 registrations already received. She described the enthusiasm shown by residents, particularly young people, as a positive sign of growing public participation in the fight against drug addiction. “This is our collective responsibility to raise our voice against drug abuse and inspire the younger generation to choose a healthy and responsible lifestyle. Public participation is the key to making this campaign meaningful and successful,” she said.The Deputy Commissioner urged young people to join the run in large numbers and stay away from all forms of addiction, stressing that a drug-free lifestyle contributes to personal well-being, stronger families and a healthier society.She also appealed to educational institutions, social organisations and local communities to support the initiative and encourage maximum participation in the awareness campaign. Participants can register for the event through the district’s dedicated online portal or by scanning the official QR code released by the administration. Officials said online registration will remain open to facilitate wider public participation.The review meeting focused on route planning, crowd management, coordination among departments, public outreach and other logistical arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the event. Among those present at the meeting were Additional Deputy Commissioner Naveen Ahuja, Jagadhri SDM Vishwanath, Deputy CEO Jasvinder Singh, DIPRO Dr Manoj Kumar, Municipal Corporation Executive Engineer Jarnail Singh, ADIO Paras, and officials from various departments involved in the organisation of the programme.
