The festival of Raksha Bandhan was celebrated in an atmosphere filled with affection, warmth and happiness at Utthan Sansthan, where Yamunanagar-Jagadhri Mayor Suman Bahmani spent time with special children and joined them in celebrating the occasion.

The children tied rakhis on the Mayor’s wrist, while Suman Bahmani affectionately blessed them and shared moments of joy with them. The Raksha Bandhan celebration at the institution conveyed a meaningful message of love, respect, equality and human sensitivity.

Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Suman Bahmani said that children are a form of God and celebrating Raksha Bandhan among them was a matter of great fortune for her.

She said the innocent smiles, affection and warmth of the children touched her heart. According to the Mayor, special children are an integral part of society and deserve to be treated with dignity and respect.

The Mayor emphasised that society should not look at special children with sympathy alone but should provide them with respect, equal opportunities and the confidence to move forward in life. She said these children possess remarkable talent and abilities, and what they need is understanding, encouragement and opportunities to develop their potential.

Suman Bahmani appreciated the work being carried out by Utthan Sansthan Director Anju Vajpayee and Dr Pramod Vajpayee for the welfare and development of special children. She said the institution was performing a commendable role not only in caring for the children but also in providing them with education, values, skills for self-reliance and opportunities to connect with the mainstream of society.

She said organisations working for the welfare of special children play an important role in strengthening the values of compassion, sensitivity and humanity within society.

During her visit, the Mayor spent considerable time with the children and closely observed their activities. She said that every moment spent with these children was a learning experience and inspired society to recognise their strengths and capabilities.

The Mayor said that children with special needs should be given every possible opportunity to progress and participate confidently in society. Creating an inclusive environment and ensuring equal opportunities, she added, is essential for helping every child realise his or her potential.

The celebration was marked by visible excitement and happiness among the children, whose faces reflected the joy of the festival. The simple act of tying rakhis and sharing time together created an emotional and memorable atmosphere at the institution.

Mayor Suman Bahmani extended Raksha Bandhan greetings to all the children and wished them a bright and successful future. She said that the smiles of these children were among the greatest blessings and called upon society to continue supporting and encouraging them with love, dignity and respect.

The Raksha Bandhan celebration at Utthan Sansthan thus became more than a festive gathering, highlighting the importance of inclusion, equality and human connection. The occasion served as a reminder that every child, irrespective of physical or developmental challenges, deserves opportunities, encouragement and a meaningful place in society.
