Anti-Narcotics Cell secures police remand after recovery on Jagadhri Workshop Road; investigation focuses on source and distribution chain

The Yamunanagar Police’s Anti-Narcotics Cell has arrested an e-rickshaw driver allegedly in possession of 51 grams of heroin and launched an investigation to trace the drug supply network operating in the district. A case has been registered against the accused under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and police have obtained his remand for further interrogation. Anti-Narcotics Cell In-charge Anil Kumar said the team received specific information that a man was present in Guru Tegh Bahadur Gali on Jagadhri Workshop Road with the intention of selling narcotic substances.
Acting on the tip-off, a police team led by ASI Karmbir reached the location and detained the suspect. In accordance with the prescribed legal procedure, the accused was searched in the presence of the Duty Magistrate, during which 51 grams of heroin was allegedly recovered from his possession. During preliminary questioning, the accused was identified as Abdul Jabbar, a resident of Purana Hamida Khadda Colony. According to police records, he has previously been booked in a case related to the illegal sale of liquor.
Investigators said preliminary findings indicate that the accused is allegedly a drug user and had been involved in the illegal sale of heroin for nearly two months. He reportedly operated an e-rickshaw in Yamunanagar after bringing it from Saharanpur. Police are now investigating the source of the recovered narcotics and attempting to identify the individuals involved in supplying and distributing the contraband. Officials said further action will be taken on the basis of information gathered during the accused’s police remand as efforts continue to dismantle the drug supply network.
