Haryana Cabinet Minister Shyam Singh Rana and Yamunanagar Municipal Corporation Mayor Suman Bahmani on Wednesday laid the foundation stones for three development projects worth ₹90.23 lakh in Ward No. 21. The projects were formally inaugurated in the presence of ward councillor Manjit Kaur, with the dignitaries performing the traditional coconut-breaking ceremony.
The minister and the mayor directed municipal corporation officials to ensure that all three projects are completed within the stipulated time while maintaining strict quality standards. They stressed that development works should be executed according to prescribed specifications so that residents can derive long-term benefits from the infrastructure.
Mayor Suman Bahmani said the Municipal Corporation will undertake construction of streets and installation of storm-water drainage systems in several localities of Ward 21. A project worth ₹41.87 lakh will be carried out in Bank Colony Extension and Kansapur, covering street construction and storm-water drainage works.
Similarly, development works involving construction of streets and storm-water drains will be undertaken in Moti Bagh Bank Colony at a cost of ₹24.98 lakh, while works worth ₹23.38 lakh will be carried out in Ashok Vihar.
The projects are expected to address longstanding problems faced by residents, particularly waterlogging during rainfall and difficulties in movement caused by inadequate or damaged roads. The construction of proper storm-water drainage systems and paved streets is expected to improve drainage and connectivity in the affected areas.
Cabinet Minister Shyam Singh Rana said the Haryana government is working with commitment towards the overall development of both urban and rural areas. He said providing better basic amenities to citizens remains one of the government’s key priorities.
Rana said there was no shortage of funds for development works and that the Central and state governments were undertaking projects worth crores of rupees keeping public interest in mind. He said development works were being prioritised according to the specific requirements of different areas so that residents could receive improved roads, drainage and other essential civic facilities.
He emphasised that the objective of development is to ensure that government facilities and infrastructure reach people at the grassroots level. He said the administration and local bodies should remain focused on completing projects efficiently and ensuring that public money is utilised effectively.
Mayor Suman Bahmani said the Municipal Corporation was working towards the balanced development of all wards of the city. She said residents of Ward 21 had been demanding improved drainage facilities and properly paved streets for a long time, and the commencement of these projects would bring significant improvement to the area.
She directed municipal officials to complete all three projects within the prescribed timeframe and ensure that construction materials meet the required quality standards. She said there should be no compromise on the quality of work, as properly executed infrastructure would provide lasting benefits to residents.
The inauguration programme was attended by Municipal Corporation Assistant Engineer Rajesh Sharma, Councillors Vikram Rana and Ujjwal Banyal, Madan Kumar, Mehroof Ali, Billa Rana, Sarpanch Suresh Rana, Aman, Dharmendra, Sunita Bali, Pooja Sharma, Rani Devi and others.
