Deputy Commissioner Preeti reviewed the district’s road safety arrangements during a meeting of the District-Level Road Safety Committee and directed officials to take effective measures to prevent road accidents and protect precious lives.
The Deputy Commissioner said accident-prone locations should be identified and necessary corrective measures undertaken on priority. She directed concerned departments to ensure that traffic signs, speed breakers, reflectors, road markings and street lights remain in proper condition.
She also called for prompt action on damaged roads and other traffic-related problems. Officials were directed to regularly review road safety works and complete pending tasks within the stipulated timeframe.
Emphasising the importance of responsible driving, Preeti directed authorities to intensify awareness and enforcement against overspeeding, riding without helmets, driving without seat belts and using mobile phones while driving. Violators should be challaned and dealt with as per law.
The Deputy Commissioner stressed that special road safety arrangements should be ensured around schools, educational institutions and other public places. She said road safety was not merely the responsibility of the administration and every citizen must contribute by following traffic rules.
She directed officials to ensure that tractor-trailers are fitted with proper reflectors and that vehicles operating without number plates are challaned and seized as per rules. She also ordered regular inspection of private school buses under the Safe Vehicle Policy.
Preeti further urged IMA representatives to ensure cooperation from doctors under the PM Relief Scheme.
She said officials could contribute to saving lives by reducing road accidents through sincere implementation of their daily responsibilities. Various other issues concerning road and traffic safety were also discussed.
ASP Ashish Choudhary, Jagadhri SDM Vishwanath, Radaur SDM Narendra Kumar, Bilaspur SDM Dr Kuldeep Singh, Chhachhrauli SDM Jaspal Singh Gill, City Magistrate Piyush Gupta, District Transport Officer Haritjeet Kaur and officials from several departments attended the meeting.

A sacred Kalash Vandan Yatra carrying holy soil from the birthplace of Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas Ji at Seer Govardhanpur in Kashi reached various villages of the Radaur Assembly constituency as part of preparations to mark his 650th birth anniversary.
The sacred journey was warmly welcomed by devotees at temples dedicated to Guru Ravidas Ji across the region. Devotees showered flowers on the procession, creating an atmosphere of devotion and spiritual fervour.
Nepal Singh Rana, senior BJP leader and son of Haryana Agriculture Minister Shyam Singh Rana, participated in the Kalash Vandan Yatra and highlighted the teachings and legacy of Guru Ravidas Ji.
He said the life and teachings of Sant Guru Ravidas Ji represent humanity, equality, service and social harmony. His message continues to inspire society to rise above discrimination and work towards an inclusive social order.
Rana said Guru Ravidas Ji’s teachings emphasised a society where everyone has access to food and no person is considered superior or inferior. He also highlighted the message that purity of mind and spirit, along with brotherhood, gives spiritual meaning to life.
He said Guru Ravidas Ji preached love, compassion, truth, hard work and service to humanity. The purpose of the sacred Kalash Vandan Yatra is to travel across the country and take his thoughts and message to people from all sections of society.
The sacred soil-filled Kalash was accorded a warm welcome at temples in different villages, with a large number of devotees, including women, participating in the religious programme.
Market Committee chairman Rupinder Singh, senior BJP leader Gopal Krishna and local residents Darshan Lal, Praveen Kumar, Sanjeev Kumar, Pradeep Kumar, Ramphal alias Bhola, Vicky, Balinder Kumar and others were present.
