The Municipal Corporation Yamunanagar has sealed six building entrances opening towards a pond in Pansra village as part of action against alleged unauthorised construction and encroachment on public land.

The action was carried out by a municipal team on the directions of Municipal Commissioner Mahabir Prasad. According to corporation officials, unauthorised entry gates had been constructed towards the pond in the six buildings, which were found to be in violation of regulations concerning municipal land and construction.

Officials said the owners of all six buildings were issued show-cause notices twice and were subsequently given an opportunity for personal hearing. However, according to the corporation, no satisfactory response was submitted within the prescribed period.

Following the completion of the proceedings, the Municipal Corporation took sealing action under Sections 250, 261, 262 and 263-A of the Haryana Municipal Corporation Act, 1994.

The action was conducted by a team comprising Deputy Town Planner Muneswar Bhardwaj, Mrinal Jaiswal and Junior Engineer Manish Kumar.

The matter came to the corporation’s notice after a complaint was received regarding entrances of certain buildings opening towards the pond in Ward No. 12, Pansra. Following the complaint, the Deputy Town Planner and building inspectors inspected the site. Their report found that the entrances of the buildings had been opened towards the pond.

The concerned property owners were issued notices and given an opportunity to present their side before the corporation proceeded with the action.

Municipal Commissioner Mahabir Prasad said unauthorised construction or encroachment on municipal land, ponds or other public property would not be tolerated. He directed officials to take strict action in accordance with law against illegal construction and encroachment on public land.

He also instructed officials to conduct regular inspections to protect municipal properties and public spaces and ensure that violations are dealt with as per the applicable provisions.

The Municipal Commissioner warned building owners against carrying out construction without permission and advised them to remove unauthorised structures themselves. He further cautioned residents against any construction within municipal land or the boundary of the pond.
