District administration directs immediate action against unauthorised developments, illegal highway establishments and property registrations

The Yamunanagar district administration has launched a comprehensive drive against illegal colonies, unauthorised constructions and encroachments, with Deputy Commissioner Preeti directing officials of multiple departments to initiate strict enforcement measures across the district.
Chairing a high-level review meeting, the Deputy Commissioner instructed officials from the Department of Town and Country Planning (DTP), National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Public Works Department (Buildings & Roads) to identify all illegally developed colonies and take prompt legal action against those responsible. She said unchecked unauthorised development not only violates planning regulations but also creates long-term challenges for civic infrastructure and public services.
The DC directed the concerned departments to conduct detailed field inspections, verify ongoing construction activities and issue notices wherever violations are found. She stressed that enforcement action should be taken without delay in accordance with the law.
To strengthen monitoring at the grassroots level, Preeti instructed all Station House Officers (SHOs) in the district to immediately report any information regarding illegal construction activities to the respective Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs). She said coordination between the police and civil administration is essential to prevent unauthorised developments before they expand.
The Deputy Commissioner also directed all SDMs to undertake regular inspections within their respective jurisdictions and ensure the removal of illegal constructions and encroachments wherever necessary. She emphasised that strict enforcement would help maintain planned urban development and protect public land from illegal occupation.
Expressing concern over unauthorised commercial establishments along national highways, Preeti instructed NHAI officials to issue immediate notices to operators of illegally constructed shops, restaurants and roadside dhabas located on highway land. She said appropriate legal action should follow wherever violations are confirmed to ensure compliance with highway safety and land-use regulations.
In another significant directive, the Deputy Commissioner instructed the District Revenue Officer (DRO) to ensure that no property registrations are processed for illegally developed colonies or unauthorised commercial establishments. She said preventing the registration of such properties would discourage illegal development and strengthen enforcement efforts.
Officials present at the meeting discussed inter-departmental coordination, legal procedures and monitoring mechanisms to ensure effective implementation of the district-wide campaign. The administration reiterated its commitment to planned urban growth, transparent governance and strict adherence to development regulations.
The meeting was attended by Jagadhri SDM Vishwanath, Chhachhrauli SDM Jaspal Singh Gill, Vyaspur SDM Dr Kuldeep Singh, Radaur SDM Narendra Kumar, DSP Kavaljit Singh, DTP Rajesh Kumar, DIPRO Dr Manoj Kumar, Municipal Corporation EO Jasbir Singh, PWD Executive Engineer Puneet Mittal, SDO Anurag Jindal, Junior Engineer Sameer Saini and other senior officials from various departments.
The district administration has appealed to residents and developers to strictly follow planning regulations and obtain all mandatory approvals before undertaking any construction activity, warning that violations will invite stringent legal action.
