Strengthening its commitment to environmental conservation, Pariyavaran Mitr Foundation organised a large-scale plantation drive at PM SHRI Government Senior Secondary School, Bhambhol, where around 200 saplings of various indigenous and ornamental species were planted to promote a greener and healthier environment.

The plantation campaign witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teachers and members of the Foundation. Saplings of Jamun, Neem, Arjun, Guava, Bottle Brush, Sahjan (Moringa) and several other species were planted across the school campus with the aim of enhancing green cover and creating environmental awareness among young learners.

School Principal Arvind Kumar Patil, who attended the programme as the chief guest, inaugurated the plantation drive by planting a Jamun sapling. Addressing the gathering, he said afforestation has become an urgent necessity in the face of rising pollution and climate change. He stressed that the future of humanity depends upon protecting and expanding green cover, adding that life without trees would be unimaginable in the years ahead.

Speaking on the occasion, Pariyavaran Mitr Foundation President Chirag Singhal expressed concern over continuous deforestation and illegal mining, stating that both activities are causing serious damage to the environment. He said plantation remains one of the most effective ways to restore ecological balance and combat the rising global temperatures.

Singhal observed that while environmental campaigns are important, long-term success depends on sustained public participation. He emphasised that schoolchildren must be encouraged to develop a lifelong connection with nature so they continue planting and protecting trees in the future.

He said educational institutions play a crucial role in shaping environmentally responsible citizens and called upon students to become ambassadors of environmental protection within their families and communities.

The Foundation reiterated its commitment to promoting environmental awareness through plantation drives, water conservation campaigns, restoration of traditional water bodies, awareness seminars and community participation programmes across Haryana.

Among those present on the occasion were Renu Kumari, Chanchal, Deepika Rani, Meenakshi, Beena Rani, Anju Bala, Vandana Saini, Kiran Bala, Pooja Verma, Amrit Kaur, Vijay Kumar, Sukhbir Singh, Pushkar, Neeru, Surinder Kumar, Pooja Sharma, Parul, Ravinder Kumar, Avinash Kumar, Ankita Sharma and Neelam Rani, besides teachers, students and Foundation volunteers.
